AVA have really cleaned up pretty well with Love. It still focuses too much on long passages that meander but Tom settles more on his knack of retaining catchy songs-closer to an appropriate balance that actually now suggests that AVA could obtain what they initially aimed for...or at least come close. But the answer will be a bit shrouded in mystery with the rise of Blink again. Overall though-nice effort on this one Tom.

Painfully average, the songs all sound the same and get lost with each other, there's never anything spectacular with the songwriting, or the production. I did not expect to be this disappointed.

Ten years after I obsessed over this project as a teenager, I think it still holds up as a great
and the bands best project. It has a very good flow, and Tom's singing sounds much better than
usual.

I have a soft spot for Angels & Airwaves, I’ve always been a big blink-182 fan and liked Tom’s vocals and remember hearing their first single, The Adventure, back in 2005 and loving it. This year they decided to release their 3rd LP, Love, for FREE on Valentine’s Day . Continuing with their Space Rock described adventures, AVA release their most solid record yet showing consistency, something very much lacking in their first 2 LPs. The price tag or lack of has opened the band to more listeners though I don’t believe this record will win over any fans for people who didn’t like their first two records.

I was introduced to AVA two years ago at a friend's house when it came up on his iTunes and I was hooked. Their first song I heard was Secret Crowds and I became addicted. I learned the drums for it and watched other people play it because unfortunately I lack talent on other instruments. When the same friend told me they had a new album for free I rushed to download it.
The following hour was filled with very nice background music. There was nothing on the album that hit me like their earlier work. Nothing made me want to turn my slightly crackly computer speakers up and wake my parents like an epic song should.
LOVE provides a great mood of drifting through space... but a limitless space that provides little variety. One song drifted into another with slight tempo, key, and lyrical changes.
AVA seems to have simply become DeLonge's escape from punk music. It no longer contains the spark that it once had when it was a goal to create something new, something that hadn't been heard before. Now it seems we've heard it all before.

So we have been longing for love since we saw Tom wearing the shirt while touring with blink-182 in their 2009 Summer Reunion Tour and now it's finally out. LOVE by far is my least favorite record from Angels & Airwaves, but that doesn't necessarily means it's bad. This album has a few stand out songs such as; "The Flight of Apollo", "Young London", "Epic Holiday", "Hallucinations", and "Letters To God, Part II" to name a few, but what this album is missing is a few fast passed songs from here to there, also i am not a huge fan of the two minute outros after most of the songs. We Don't Need To Whisper had songs like, "The War", "The Adventure", "Do It For Me Now", balanced the album out between the slower songs like, "A Little's Enough" and "Distraction". As we know this album is free, but that is no excuse for all hype Tom gave the fans as usual, I feel like these songs were just released so Tom could focus more on the new blink-182 record. Is it just me or does anyone else feel like tom is running out of ideas and new riffs. I will agree with some of you that while some riffs are very original, others just seem to be repeated, all those little echo effects, they are always in the same pattern. Well anyway this album is worth downloading, and perhaps even buying in stores as it will have 30 extra minutes of music.
