Unabashed for experimenting within the 'Pop genre', Xiu Xiu present Dear God, I Hate Myself as the epitome of
their last two entires though displayed as an exaggeration upon those albums most commercial components.
Regardless of whether this growth is taken negatively, Xiu Xiu have crafted their most engrossing work, both lyrically
and musically, throughout the album- progressing from their initial subdued spasms to the now rigid clamor of the
Nintendo DS.

Dear God, I Hate Myself? Anyone forcing himself to endure the most pretentious drivel released so far in 2010 surely must. I'm all for tossing rhythm, chord and melody out the window if it's done in an artful and thoughtful manner. Much like their last album Women as Lovers, however, Xiu Xiu's latest is another unbearable and completely capricious cacophony.

Outsider pop music: it's indeed very pop at its core, but Dear God, I Hate Myself adds depressively pessimistic atmosphere and vocals, as well as off-kilter synths and glitches that somehow make this album unnerving yet constantly interesting.
