Most will find it genreric and repetitive; but the excellent mix of genres, great lyrics, and strong vocals make up for the same ol', same ol' sound.

In a world of mediocre post-hardcore, Jamie's Elsewhere has succeeded in crafting an album that separates them from the crowd. Tasteful synths, killer clean vocals and ace instrumentation, it's only a matter of time before They Said A Storm Was Coming explodes.

The amount of love put into this album is amazing. From the passionate vocals, sweeping guitar riffs and heavy chugs, to the fast pace drums and inspiring concept lyrics this is my favorite metalcore/concept album of it's time.

At the expense of horrid clean vocals and non-sequitur song titles, Jamies Elsewhere have managed to craft a surprisingly tasteful and likeable (if uninspired) sophomore album in They Said a Storm Was Coming. While the overall formula of the record does get repetitive eventually, this is still a step in the right direction for these electronicore-waving boys. Although is it just me, or is Jamies Elsewhere following I See Stars in their footsteps? Both acts started out with relatively light-hearted, avoidable releases only to later take a more aggressive, serious (kinda sorta) approach to their music, and I just answered my own question.

has the potential, but barely have the guts to take a step forward through technicality. still enjoyable, though.

With strong lyrical foundations, solid vocals and fresh production, Jamies Elsewhere might
not be the most original band, but their strong songwriting combined with solid riffing and
drum work make up for the repetitive nature of the sound for the most part. However, other
than the strong aspects, its weaker aspects sound incredibly similar to quite a few other
bands in the genre. Needless to say, Jamies Elsewhere pull these traits off better than most
of their peers.

I think Aaron's voice is what genuinely sets this band apart from the rest of their counterparts. I was shocked to see that he can sounds just as good live, if not better, then on cd. Here's to hoping that he does a good job in OM&M

4 or 5 good tracks don't mend for a fairly generic album.

A band changing in sound can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. With Jamie's Elsewhere's sophomore album 'They Said A Storm Was Coming', we see the band focusing more on a synth-core style sound than the more focused post-hardcore style of their previous album. Instead of the synth completely taking over here though, it manages to amp the sound and add a whole new element to the actual musicianship of the album. The biggest complaint I have though is the assortment of tracks on the album. When you listen to the album as a whole, most songs feel and sound the same, which is a big problem for bands in the genre. Overall, this band could continue in this path and do pretty good for themselves, or they could improve upon what they've already improved upon and create a much better album in the future.

Not a bad Post-Hardcore/Metalcore release. Not too generic and overall catchy hooks. Just picture 'A Day to Remember' with more emo. Pretty much my first really fun guilty pleasure album of '10.

This album is without doubt the best that any hardcore/post-hardcore band has put out in a LONG time. Absolutely amazing album!

Actually a lot more entertaining than I hoped.
When I heard Synths, I assumed they would try to be the new Attack Attack! But the clean and screamed vocals are good.

with the exception of 1-2 songs it goes from meh to rising stars. best effort yet, by a landslide.

It seem's that bands are really getting the hint that when you do synth-core you actually have to be slightly talented.
These kids don't bring anything new, but they use what they have and actually do a pretty good job at it.
I'm glad to see that these synth bands have dropped the auto-tuned and the precise and almost ridiculous production for a true sound.

Some parts really sounded like Attack Attack! but other then that it was a pretty solid album. It just still feels like they have more growing to do
