First effort of hers that I listen to in full, and I feel super fortunate that it's this
one. She Reaches out to She Reaches out to She packs a very seductive, entrancing
quality in its moody core, and give you many outbursts of emotion in its explosive opening
and closing tracks. The in-between can be a rocky road for some, considering that some
songs might fall flat despite the amazing atmosphere, but there are many interesting timbre
choices and beautiful vocal deliveries to balance things out. It's lyrical aspect is also
noteworthy, with many songs like Everything Turns Blue, or Unseen World
offering a lot of introspective lyrics, questioning the perception of self as well as the
world. I'm completely blown away from this.

Wolfe comes back to darkwave after the folkier Birth of Violence and other collaborative efforts - and it's for the best, as her croons really shine alongside the synthetic gloom at play. It does suffer from a slight midway lull, but even the "least interesting" moments manage to be engaging thanks to a pristine production and a crispy sound design.

A return to form as Chelsea Wolfe returns to her industrial/darkwave blend that has been slightly more absent in the last few albums. Never reaches the absolute mastery that was on display in 'Abyss' but some moments do even if the album as a whole isn't quite that level. 'House of Self-Undoing' is brilliant combining upbeat drums, Chelsea's creepy ethereal vocal melodies and great industrial tones. Beyond that, 'The Liminal', 'Dusk' and 'Everything Turns Blue' are highlights. Really like a 3.75 on here. One of the main things to criticize is it feels like after 'House of Self-Undoing' the album stays at the same mid to slow tempo the entire time and another faster paced track would have been amazing for pacing. Chelsea really has had a good decade plus creating music.

Chelsea Wolfe's latest album sees her returning to her darkwave roots, albeit with a subtle twist. This time around, she delves into the realm of trip hop on several tracks, a move that feels both natural and inevitable given her flirtations with the genre over the years. In "She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She," Chelsea plunges headfirst into trip hop territory, crafting atmospheric compositions punctuated by rhythmic drum fills. Despite this departure, the album retains the timeless ethereal and haunting charm that defines Chelsea's music, evoking a sense of foreboding throughout many of its tracks. However, a recurring issue that persists, as with many of her previous releases, is the tendency for the album to become somewhat one-dimensional after the halfway mark. Additionally, certain tracks, such as the glitchy "Eyes Like Nightshade," raise questions about their cohesion within the overall album narrative. Nonetheless, the album offers a solid listening experience that immerses you in its haunting atmosphere, even when Halloween is far from sight (at the time of its release).
