The most unlistenable vocalist in pop history with no creative direction. Can?t sing, can?t write. An ability to go from completely flat to uncontrollably pitchy like no other. 0/5.

Damn near close to being one of the best pop albums of the last few years - but the pacing is
boderline AWFUL. I have no problem with the occasional slow song, but for some reason they seem
to
come in pairs on this album, which makes the tonal shifts all the more jarring when they happen.
When she's on, she's ON though. Really excited to see what else she does in her career.
EDIT: Okay, I've cooled on this a bit. The album's inconsistency is by far it's biggest flaw.

Chappell Roan's debut is a wild if inconsistent pop debut that trades the brash and the soft - FYI production duties fall to Dan Nigro, the same producer as Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR, and it shows sometimes a tad too much. Apart from the consistency and ORod's similarity issues, Roan's got a good formula of theatrical yet earnest pop.

I enjoyed the quick poppier bits, but god I was removed from it by the slow songs, which really made it hard to decide whether I was dancing or sitting in silence. Confusing tracklist, but the poppy songs are awesome fun and promising

This album (and Chappell) makes me feel like we can do pop properly if we prop good artists up. The singles from this song are some of the best pop of the decade (Pink Pony Club, Red Wine, Femininomenon, Hot to Go)

label budget. Most importantly its messy and very good fun.
UPDATE: Holy shit, this may actually have some of the absolute best songs of the last 10
years on it.
