4.5 superb | God of terror, very low dost thou bring us, very low hast thou brought us | November 21st 23 | Overproduced to the point of sounding like a dolby atmos soundtrack, sound barrier 'a la'
Devin Townsend, and an emotional soundscape of great ambition, so you know you are listening
rto modern prog, and honestly, it's one of the most eclectic offerings this genre has given
us yet. Its dynamic nature and diverse guest appearences makes it lose factors like cohesion
and sense of whole, but the quality on songwriting and musical technique compensate for a
very interesting listen. Probably the most ambitiously produced album since Fear Inoculum.
For fans of Leprous, Devin Townsend, Karnivool, Sigur Ros... Prog realm is a kingdom of hit
and miss, and this album is definitely a hit.

2.0 poor | xenochrist15 | November 18th 23 | I don't know what it is, but listening to the first few tracks of this was incredibly painful. Don't get me wrong - the instrumentation is phenomenal, but the variety of vocalists used does not do the band a favor. There is a strong disconnect between the vocal tracks and the instrumentation that geniunely gives off the impression that these vocalists (with the exception of Dan from Tesseract) simply don't know how to write runs to these types of songs or that the band simply didn't feel the need to account for them, but rather have whatever guest vocalist figure it out on their own. Vocals are an instrument that needs to be taken account for during the writing process and seems like this didn't happen here. Crucify me, but that's like my opinion, dude.

4.5 superb | Bro has djent in his pie | November 17th 23 | Probably as good as the debut, and many of these songs have room to grow. Tons of trademark Earthside sounds in "We Who Lament", "Watching The Earth Sink", and the title track, but the most surprising one was "The Lesser Evil". A stylistically more upbeat track that acted as a worthwhile experiment, incorporating influence from a Dirty Loops-type sound. In summation, Earthside is the perfect name for this band, as this is the music I'd picture if the earth had the free will to write music. It has such a natural touch to it, so vibrant, so filled with life, the earth shines as brilliantly as the album. Easy AOTY contender, 8-year long wait but it was worth it.

4.0 excellent | KrillBoi | November 20th 23 | Didn't quite hit me immediately like the debut did. Might come with repeat listens. Still some
gorgeous moments throughout.
EDIT: definitely growing on me, from Watching The Earth Sink and forwards it's pretty incredible.
I think my main gripes right now is the vocal performances in Tyranny and Pattern Of Rebirth
aren't as strong as the others and the horn synths on The Lesser Evil seem so cheesy in contrast
to all the other real orchestral bits. Would like the horns to be acoustic there as well, I can't
take them seriously lol.
EDIT 2: secretstache pointed out to me that the horns in The Lesser Evil are also real
instruments, so it's apparently not that which puts me off. I dunno, they sounded
keyboard-y to me, so might be the mixing or whatever.

4.5 superb | ajcollins15 | November 22nd 23 | Eight years in the making; Earthside?s sophomore record ?Let the Truth Speak? is everything I have wanted to hear from the band, but nothing more. From the very beginning of this record you know what you are in for. Expansive and evolving progressive metal with the band?s signature symphonic orchestration has made the band who they are. Plus the use of post-rock atmospheres and builds continues to allow for even more explosive highs when the band goes for it. Take the monumental single ?Let the Truth Speak? with its angelic vocals by TesseracT lead singer Daniel Tompkins and continually evolving strings and metal guitars leading to a passionate and inspiring track. Plus the band even takes some risks like jamming ?The Lesser Evil? by bringing in soul legend Larry Braggs of the Temptations and meme saxophonist Sam Gendel of clowncore. ?Let the Truth Speak? is a continuation of the band?s huge sound and I am all for it, no matter how campy the style can be at times. Hopefully, we don?t have to wait as long for a new album, but genius takes time.

3.5 great | MunsuLight | December 14th 23 | Such an uneven album brought down a lot by the vocalist guest spots. At this point I believe it would just be better for them to get a full time vocalist or just go full instrumental. I think this is stronger musically than their previous, but the vocals bring the whole thing down
