How this dude can professionally survive inciting a riot at his show that gets 10 people killed and come moonwalking out the other side is the utopia I need to get in on.

Scott confirms he's at his most comfortable as a curator: he brings every possible star together in a hazy, psychy trap record that mostly shines thanks to its detailed production. The songs aren't crazy but really that sound design is top fucking notch.

Fantastic production and lush atmosphere, memorable features, gorgeous sampling. Not much of substance lyrically but when the songcraft is this good it doesn't matter too much.

And this is the sound todays kids listen to? Poor children. I saw on some fb page from my
country, Poland, like kids were "oh my God this is another level, production is outer this space
and twisted to every direction in the world" xD I'm not the biggest hip-hop/rap fan, but I listen
to almost big release from this genre, and I must admit that the Utopia is mid at least, with
some good moments and more of terrible firsts "in music production software attempts". Modern Jam
is great tho. I felt scammed. Lil Yachty's - Let's Start Here. eat this alive, there's no
competition.

I don’t care if the production is excellent (it is not it is interesting at best), you just cannot make me forget that ten
people died at his show and then he did a BLACK AND WHITE apology video then came on this album and makes like 5
bragadocious claims that his arenas need bigger capacity that shit is CRAZY. If he didn’t say a word on this album it’d be
like a 3.5 though, some beats are great, drake actually kinda kills it, sza was pretty good and westside gunn was a weird
choice for a Travis beat but it was actually my favourite feature, so. Gentle Giant sample AND funkadelic in the first song
had me so hyped, since the last album with a gentle giant sample I remember was literally madvillainy, my favourite hip
hop album ever, but then nothing lived up to the first song. Anyway fuck you travis

The long-awaited album from Travis Scott is finally here and there are a lot of positives we can take away from it. The continuation of his unique psychedelic trap brand shines through on many of the tracks here. Not only that but the use of industrial hip hop and many other elements of experimental hip hop makes for a varied listen. Travis Scott really has come a long way with his style and he is showing that off in full force. There are some heavy-hitting highlights like the bouncy and bassy ?MODERN JAM?, the rich and atmospheric ?CIRCUS MAXIMUS?, and the grimy and dense ?Lost Forever?. However, what makes these tracks stand out is the features that are brought in (among others). My problem with Travis Scott continues to plague him, he is too much like Kanye West. From the rapping to the production, everything feels like something Kanye has already done. With that said UTOPIA is a much better version of what Donda wanted to be, so there is that. Overall though it?s a really solid listen and the whole album is well-crafted and executed. It just doesn?t deserve the AOTY conversations it?s been getting from hip hop heads because it fails to be anything I would expect from the current change in the hip hop sound.
