Been following Caleb for 10+ years so I'm stoked the guy is finally happy & living his best life, but the songs from this thing are absolute confirmation of the age-old saying that the "best music comes from heartbreak." Huge stinker.

fetishizing the tortured artist or sad being more relatable. Band sucks, but not because the guy is happy, but because
hes a crappy songwriter

Beartooth subvert expectations by daring to color outside the lines, but the awkward
meshing of the album's omnipresent optimism with their metalcore template (which they are
unfortunately too reluctant to discard) yields middling results. i.e. highs and lows net out.

When is bad, it's awful. But it's way better than expected especially after a couple of the singles had me worried. Helps that a song like Riptide has also grown on me since last year. Still, this is mostly a pop album with breakdowns.
