| 4.5 superb | convergejd | May 24th 24 | Sputnik is rough on this band. This is pretty
good. All over the place yet it all fits well
together. This is really well written.
n/A is different and cheesy until you realize
it's really good. Awesome bridge.
youtopia seems strange as an opener but damn,
what a great chorus. Great vocal performance.
Lots of other highlights, limousine, a bullet
w/my name on, rip, amen, dig it

| 2.0 poor | SteakByrnes | May 23rd 24 | Sprinklings of neat ideas are all over this but they're buried under a heap of what sounds
like a tiktok artist trying to emulate modern bmth. Headache-inducing amount of obnoxious
synths, man Jordan Fish can't be gone sooner.
Amen is the only good track start to end, which is a shame because when Oli is going sicko
mode and screaming his lungs out and doing lows he sounds fantastic

| 4.5 superb | Caleb Robinson CONTRIBUTOR | May 29th 24 | As someone who was very skeptical of how this would turn out...I'm completely floored. I understand where other peoples' complaints are coming from, but I absolutely LOVE the flow of this thing. I never would've thought such an auditory clusterf**k like this would work so well. This is a contender for AOTY in my book.

| 1.5 very poor | Simon K. STAFF | May 24th 24 | Horrible production and the kind of late 90s/00s nostalgia bait that makes even me cringe. Couple of good ideas here,
but it?s mostly incoherent slop.

buried beneath layers and layers of glitchy nonesense and chaos.
Also what is the actual mix with this ??? Its bizzare

| 3.7 great | Trey STAFF | May 24th 24 | I've never really been a fan of this band. At best, they were unremarkable but catchy. This release caught me off guard, however. I like the electronics, the catchiness, the bouts of dissonance, and the messy unpredictabilty of most the songs. It may get old fast, but for now I'm enjoying it.

| 3.5 great | samrparker12 | May 24th 24 | Unironically gave this a one before I even listened to it since I thought I'd hate it like with Amo and Survival Horror but this is actually quite good! liMOusIne is just a moodring/deftones ripoff (like the riff is almost the same as the opening of SYNC.wav by Moodring), but its still good. Some of the vocal effects/synths are NOT it, but they still get the job done. TLDR: It had some issues, but it's much better than I though it would be.

| 2.0 poor | haggmeez | May 24th 24 | zzzzZZZZZZzzzz. It's like BMTH was bought by a private equity firm that owns an assortment of pop acts and decided to start selling genre smoothies.

| 2.0 poor | Asura14 | May 24th 24 | Every "rock" song here is almost good, it's so overproduced yet banking on nostalgia.. the random shorter tracks feel completely out of place and don't add anything to the album
Darkside is still probably the best cut in this and they've managed to get Glassjaw and Underoath to feature which are highlights in their respective tracks but can't really save them. Limousine is a decent Deftones worship with a sprinkle of the Dune soundtrack for extra randomness

| 4.0 excellent | leolhc | May 23rd 24 | It took them 8 years to put out a good album but they finally did. Except "Strangers" and "Die4u", it's a pretty solid album.

| 3.0 good | damon r. EMERITUS | May 25th 24 | I haven't cared about this band since 2010, and I thought amo and That's The Spirit were incredibly boring, so I was not expecting this album to be so much damn fun. The mish mash of genres here just works so well for me, combining hyper pop with metalcore and grungy alt metal. It's like BMTH had a baby with underscores and Deftones. This album is 55 minutes long, but the variety keeps it so engaging. It almost feels more like listening to a playlist as opposed to a cohesive album, which I think was an intentional move to capture the attention of todays society of instant gratification induced brain death. I admit, there's some stinkers on this album. In particular I don't looove the way this band does it's Deftones rip off as it feels more like an unoriginal imitation than a fresh spin. Loathe does that type of stuff so much better. Some of the straight up pop songs were a bit lackluster as well, but when the band hits that sweet spot mixing chaotic blasts of electronic pop with metalcore, it just lights up all the right neurons in my brain. I can see why so many people despise this shit, but I think not being a BMTH fan prior, and thus having zero expectations of what they should or should not sound like really made it easy for me to get into this.

| 3.0 good | Free Death #2 | May 24th 24 | I don't.......hate this? Objectively it's pure sugary trash, but it really tickles that mid-2000s emocore spot. I'm a sucker for this kind of garbage because it's what I grew up on, so...grain of salt, yada yada. IF NOTHING ELSE this kicks the shit out anything Silverstein have done for the last decade.

| 1.0 awful | kodama | July 14th 25 | Album cover alone is worth a 1, but the music is also garbage. I have no idea how this band makes Sempiternal and then decides to do the exact opposite for the rest of their discog. You captured lightning in a bottle and then let it out, pissed in the bottle, and broke it over the head of a 55 year old divorced plumber in a bar fight. No reason to listen to anything this garbage bong group has made other than Suicide Season and Sempiternal.

| 2.0 poor | c0nf1n3d | February 27th 25 | I don't know why, but I just can't ever seem to get into Bring Me The Horizon. There's never been one song of theirs, in their entire career spanning back to almost 20 years ago, where I've heard a piece and went 'this is it'. Given the illuminating praise that "POST HUMAN: NeX GEn" has been getting, maybe the praise here is because this is absolutely the best record the band has put out to date, but sadly it still really isn't even saying much. After doing the classic pointless intro track, 'YOUtopia' is a serviceable starter that goes into 'Kool Aid' and 'Top 10 Statues that Cried Blood', the two best songs on the record and they're back-to-back. There's highlights later on such as an underOATH feature, and the oddly-paired 'AmEN!' with Glassjaw and Lil Uzi Vert. It's hard to hate on the musicianship here, as there are lead lines and solos in the guitars, and the drums are consistent with audible bass lines. There's a bunch of credited songwriters as well, so I guess chalk this one up to a preference thing; BMtH has a huge fanbase for a reason, and I guess I'll never really be one of them

| 2.4 average | Erwann S. EMERITUS | August 25th 24 | It's indeed astonishing how they managed to deliver such an underwhelming record based on how many different influences they tried to cram into it - hyperpop emo-pop Deftones worship could have been so much cooler than this.

| 3.5 great | Bloodnutter09 | July 24th 24 | The first listen I didn't really like the album, probably from my negative response to the awful cliche lyrics in Kool-Aid. Upon listening a few times I've come to enjoy the album and have gone back for multiple listens. The experimentation and use of nintendocore sounds is weird to hear in a mainstream setting, but has been done without overdoing it. Reiterating the major letdown is the tacky lyrics which have been prevalent in a lot of the recent (post Sempiternal) BMTH music.

| 2.5 average | AdoreSwancore | June 1st 24 | May 24th 2024: An alternative turned mainstream act release their 7th album, that is intended to be a multi-genre spanning concept album, but instead ends up being mostly inoffensive background music.

| 2.0 poor | ajcollins15 | May 31st 24 | I have been a pretty large fan of BMTH music since their revolutionary metalcore output on ?Sempiternal? in 2013. From there, the band has continued to change and adapt their sound into various other avenues. However, on the band?s seventh full length album ?Post Human: NeX GEn?, this might be the first time that Oli and the gang really don?t know what they want. The album definitely fits into the modern alternative metal trend, but it also tries to fit into a lot of other lanes with the heavy use of electronics. In many ways, this album sounds as awkward as you think it would be, which isn?t new for the band. But I really believe this is the first time the band has just lost and not knowing how to stay modern. Normally the band is the innovators of modern metal, but here we see them stumble through so many ideas of other artists. Definitely not their best, but I hope they can build into something stronger in the future.

| 3.0 good | FrozenFirebug | May 30th 24 | Like every other thing this band has made after their initial deathcore era (except half of That's The Spirit), NeX GEn is an energetic and sonically interesting album, that's unfortunately marred by juvenile lyrics conveying blanket sentiments that reek of a lack of life experience, willful ignorance, or a ghostwriter that's making the band be stupid on purpose to cater faux rebellion to a young audience. I'm not sure which of those is what's getting under my skin, but it is an everpresent constant that is impossible to ignore, solely because of how fake it feels. But ultimately, the album sounds good, even when it doesn't. Every overcompressed riff manages to fit within the context of its song, and sounds good. Every chorus, even if it sucks, invariably sounds good. Every spastic electronic segment that could've been produced better... sounds good. That's all there is to say about this album. It's fun, it sounds good, it could've sounded better, and it should've been written better.
