Over-powered beats & meaningful lyrics, this album's got it all. I was a bit unsure about this band when I listened to the first EP, but now... I've just realized how epic they've become. 3 Bumps \| Bump

Completely disagree with Carnifex, these guys have involved into a much better band from their EP. The exhales sound much much much better than the old inhales. Songs like The Human Condition and Elysium show that they are melodic and heavy at the same time. Definitely alot better of an album then their EP and I'm stoked to hear more from CG in the future. 3 Bumps \| Bump

This is deathcore(not death metal) at its best. If you dont like malice-blistering lyrics with a vengeful attitude and breakdowns that set you up for major headbanging then you will hate this album. Chelsea Grin do what they do best and do a damn good job of it. Does not show much musicianship and technicality but thats not what i expect from a deathcore's band first effort. Basically, Chelsea Grin knows how to do a great breakdown, which sadly, provokes a negative attitude towards deathcore bands. But like i said, if you're into evil breakdowns and face churning vocals, this album will be a favorite of yours.

One of the defining deathcore albums...filled with memorable riffs, powerful breakdowns, fierce blastbeats, and angry vocals + the production complements all of this perfectly. Includes songs (Sonnet of the wretched, Cheyne stokes, Human condition and Recreant) that could be considered as deathcore classics...and the others are great as well. Bump

This album is littered with fairly bad vocals and breakdowns. There are, however, some shining moments that show Chelsea Grin has potential. "The Human Condition", for example, has a handful of cool sounding parts in the song, such as the intro. "Elysium", an instrumental track, is very solid, up until the last 20 seconds, when a long, brooding breakdown commences. I'm also fairly fond of the song Recreant, despite the hatred it gets. Songs such as "Revenant", on the other hand, are just dreadful. Opening with a breakdown is never a good idea. Any positive moments of the song are quickly pushed aside by breakdown after breakdown. In conclusion, this is a fairly okay effort from Chelsea Grin, showing that among all of their weaknesses, are a few glimmers of hope.

Deathcore isn't a very appealing genre. It's as simple as that, and it's bands like Chelsea Grin that keep being the reason people like me turn their head away from the genre. Apart from the powerful vocal assault, there is nothing here truly worth listening for. While it succeeds in making you angry, it's also easy to snooze during your first listen. Bump

Generic Deathcore.... Nothing excellent about it; it just sounds like a cross between Suicide Silence and Whitechapel, yet sloppier. It is very rarely enjoyable. Bump

I thought about giving this a very poor for the following reasons: chugaholic riffs, generic chord changes, unnecessarily low tuning, amateur-like slow sweeping, mundane vocals...but then I realized other p.o.s. bands have abused many o' listeners ears before in the same manner, therefore I deemed it an awful. This doesn't piss me off because it's tough and makes me want to swing my arms around in the pit, but because it's unbearably generic and tasteless.

I've got to admit, I was a bit disappointed with this full length release. Just as Carnifex stated - there was no stand-out track that presented itself throughout this album. While the screams were great, as expected, everything else was a bit 'meh'.. when they are capable of much more. Not to mention, they wasted at least (2) tracks on instrumental fillers. Very redundant and unneeded! Bump
