The sophomore record from UK-based [Insert Female Fronted Metal Band], feels like an [Insert Female Fronted Metal Band] copy-and-paste with modern-day [Insert Female Fronted Metal Band]-ism that makes it a rather uninspired listening experience.rLazy comparisons are my favorite.rIf you liked the last one you'll probably like this one.

With the evolution and rebranding of alternative metal, we are seeing more and more copycat bands coming out, which is what has killed every metal genre. The sophomore record from UK-based As Everything Unfolds, feels like an Evanescence copy-and-paste with modern-day Spirit Box-ism that makes it a rather uninspired listening experience. Plus, the amount of ear fatigue I am experiencing from this album is something I didn?t think could be possible. Overall, it?s an average listening experience that grows old as you go through the record.

This hits harder than their debut, but it isn't as instantly catchy. The riffs are heavier, there's more harsh vocals, and the overall sound is fatter. However it is missing a few endearing qualities the debut wasn't. The choruses and songwriting feel like they were overlooked a little in favor of an edgier sound. Also, there was an emotive feel to the debut that isn't here at all. Overall, I'd say this is great sophomore release that is a step in the right direction from the more generic (but still better) debut, but next time don't forget the hooks and emotional connection when hitting that heavier sound. Also, the second half is better than the first half as they step back from the edgier sound and settle into a groove so don't give up on this too soon.

The highlights are awesome (especially the heavier tracks) but there's too many dull/boring songs in between that drag the score down. The band has potential to be great though.
