4.5 superb | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | April 5th 23 | Matt's typical patience is even more autumnal, evening-oriented, and cold. Elements of engrossing klezmer music are ever-present, as well as some unexpected instrumental insertions in the mix. Beautiful record and Matt's voice has never sounded so Leonard Cohen-like.

3.0 good | ajcollins15 | April 11th 23 | The long-standing avant-folk artist comes through with another installment of his hauntingly charming brand of folk music he has perfected through the years. With that being said there is equally as much to love about this record as there is to hate. The long and winding folk progressions can get rather tiresome and only when more chamber instrumentation comes in does it feel a lot brighter and textured. But there is a hypnotic nature to guitar plucking that really comes through right off the bat with the opening track. Plus, the very hushed delivery of Matt adds to that sleepy hypnotism. But someone can take it too far and maybe I will fall asleep. But overall, the album is a lot of nothing and can be washed out by your memory when it?s over.
