Thus far my favorite CC album, love Chris Barnes vocals on this record, very unrefined and raw sounding but you can understand the lyrics quite well. Nice touches like the whispers in "She was asking for it" and the choking on "Forcefed Broken glass" add a little more depth to the album. The one CC album i would say everyone should own.

Yet another exercise in pure Death Metal brutality from the masters in Cannibal Corpse. Their last album with Chris Barnes is really just more of what they did on the last two. Great, but nothing outstanding. Personally I think it?s a step down from Tomb.

Am I really the only one that sees this as a tamer, inferior version of tomb of the mutilated? Yeah, the riffs are more complex, but where is the brutality that made the previous outing so enthralling?

I'm not and will never be a fan of Chris Barnes work in Death Metal, but i can't be a hypocrite to claim that he did nothing in his time as frontman of Cannibal Corpse. With only four LP's on his resume, he reached his peak in "The Bleeding". But it was not only him, the band was in harmony, creating songs that are still established as absolute classics of the genre. In the end "The Bleeding" is an lesson in extreme music, and perhaps the best album the band has ever done.

Hated this record at first because I thought it sounded more like Six Feet Under than CC. Listened to it a lot more and even though it's the album where Barnes started doing some of his weird vocal tendencies (like those horrible shrieks) they're still tolerable and actually pretty good. Also technically more impressive than the three previous records. I think this is the pinnacle of Barnes era CC (and his whole career for that matter).

The Bleeding is a classic cannibal corpse record and starts to show the technical side of this buffalo death metal 5 piece, making this the perfect preview album to showcase what was to come when they eventually added corpse grinder. While still being a classic Cannibal and Death Metal album, The Bleeding does suffer from lack of variety since all songs possess the same groovy, technical, and muddy sound, still a crushing twistedly fun listen. Best Songs: Fucked with a Knife, Stripped, Raped, and Strangled, and She was Asking for it.

This is deffinately the best Cannibal Corpse album. It has so much raw power packed into it. This is Cannibal Corpse at its peak. And the lyrics aren't really that bad. There are those new bands that have SO much worse lyrics.
