2.5 average | cjbizzlebizzle | May 2nd 23 | Tracks 2, 4 and 5 are worth checking out but even then the Bladee feature 'Real Spring' is so much better in the first half before the beat really kicks in. A lot of the beats and production comes off as even too clean, almost sterile. The record also feels like it is emulating recent underground pop tropes but trying to bridge them for a wider audience.

2.7 average | Erwann S. STAFF | February 27th 23 | More rooted in pop rap & liquid dnb than Quest for Fire, Don't Get Too Close sees Skrillex go for mainstream-adjacent tunes. It ain't a resounding success, mostly because the songs aren't that good or adventurous. By-the-numbers EDM.

3.0 good | ajcollins15 | February 22nd 23 | The second record from the producer is definitely going in a more mainstream direction with a lot more rap and generally brighter textures and at first, it is pretty solid but as it goes on the worse it gets! For how short the record it is impressive that Skrillex makes the whole thing sound the same once you get past the first three-to-four tracks. Nothing here is all that offensive to me, but it overall loses me the more I dig into it.

2.0 poor | purplechair | February 20th 23 | This feels like if Quest For Fire was scraped clean of anything Skrillex.

2.5 average | GoldenGuy444 | February 19th 23 | I think I enjoyed more on here then on the first release. The first three tracks flow together so nicely which is a complete reversal from Quest for Fire. The recontextualization of Leave Me Like This was a nice surprise and made the album's slower frame of mind really settle in.
The title track is genuinely filled the rusty depths of my rotten heart with a sweet moment of somber innocent fun, even if the first time without knowing the 'twist' makes the vocals initially obnoxious.
Much like the first it shares its fair bit of forgettable bland moments with equally as dull production, although it shines more here to my ears. You have one genuinely good 10 track album between both albums here, and bland dubstep. It is fun, but only those few moments stick around past the end.
Bad for Me is a disastrous fan fic version of Lil Dicky's "Earth" complete animal meowing sounds and gross gross percussion.
3AM Sounds like a Minecraft Parody track from 2016.
