Time Out of Mind has been hailed Dylan's best album since the 70's, but that's only because his later output has been painfully terrible. It's cohesive, dark and graceful, and tracks such as "Standing in the Doorway", "Not Dark Yet" (both convincing takes on the ideas of "Visions of Johanna" and his other earlier melancholic tunes), "Tryin' to Get to Heaven" and "Make You Feel My Love" (some of his catchiest ever) are fine indeed, but the majority of the album, composed of well-delivered blues songs, is just that: well-delivered blues songs. It may beat Oh Mercy or Street-Legal, but those who think it as good as his 60's releases, or even 1976's Desire, should probably listen to them once more.
