Fuck me, this is a step up from Urn in many ways. Misericorde brings back elements from the Portal Of I era. Urn was a good record that translates well in a live setting but aside from Eyrie that record falls flat compared to the previous two and the standard NeO set for themselves.Exul has the band returning to form and reminding us what set them apart from other modern Prog-death metal bands

With this release, Ne Obliviscaris cement their status as the greatest metal band Australia has produced. It would be difficult to name a more consistent progressive metal band this this century.

Long-standing progressive death metal and symphonic metal fusion band come through with another album that sounds like all their other albums. I get it if you love this style and band, but it really just feels like everything they have put out to this point, but the tracks can drone on for far too long and loose substance pretty quickly.

I've never been the biggest fan of the clean vocalist, and his nasally delivery still isn't my favorite, but overall this is another great Ne Obliviscaris release. It feels like they're finally starting to get some sense of direction instead a collection of meandering parts that happen to fall under the same song title. They also improved the overall atmosphere of the songs. Musically, their brand of epic progressive death metal is one of the best out there.

Guys, this is some of the goofiest shit... Maybe not the place to start with this band, but I somehow doubt listening to their highest rated albums improves the foul stench they leave behind. Laughable writing, awful vocals, overblown production that still leaves a fucktonne of instruments in the mix sound terribly off and/or bland. It's like if sterilised surgical bandaid was music. It's this. Some of the goofiest shit, I swear.-

A really nice prog death metal effort with obvious talent across the board instrumentally and a violin that adds great tension and drama to the tracks. The Misericorde suite is fantastic but on the whole the album doesn't have the lasting power that Citadel and Portal of I had. Those albums felt very much cinematic and on the whole like a story passing by. Exul feels a bit more disjointed and lacks those super high moments that are built up to over the course of a long track.

This is a huge step up from Urn, although i enjoyed Urn a lot. Exul is the band's best album since Citadel. They are certainly the most skilled musicians of the last decade
