Mostly instrumental black metal going all technical and progressive is about what I expected a bright hyped name in the scene to be like. It has quite the finesse to display, but lacks so much other substantive content that mere instrumental c o o l n e s s cannot fill in the gaps. But it genuinely does still have at least a few songs that on energy alone - give or take a memorable moment or two - carry the album.

This is really something special. I think I am overhyped on finding this and it might settle at some point a bit lower but that title track and Orbit are insane.

am i missing something? this is an absolute gem of an album. So rare to create such atmosphere within this genre these days

Definitely a solid atmospheric sludge and black metal record with some metalcore leanings in the vocals and general guitar progressions. Although the album can get a little stale at points, the vibe is pretty great, and the overall performances are solid especially for a genre as of late that sees a lot of bands phoning it in.
