A pretty consistent ("Wargod" is the only weak track here), energic riff-storm - just like expected. It's probably less melody-centric than Northern Chaos Gods was, but it feels more colorful and varied in return. The album starts with the classic late-Immortal styled fast riffages; then comes the mid-paced middle section with some outstandingly excellent songs (I'm thinking about the bit dissonant "No Sun", and the epic "Return To Cold" - the latter has synths in it!!!); and after a fully instrumental jam ("Nordlandhir"), the album delivers both some really energic fast songs ("Immortal"), or either epic, cold and "atmospheric" greatnesses ("Blashyrkh My Throne"). The production is well balanced, the guitars sound very beefy. And oh my God, we need more Immortal songs with synths!!!

I definitely like it, but it sounds like they're ripping their old material off a bit too much at times.

Probably my least favorite since Blizzards Beasts, but by no means a dud. Great songs throughout, just a tad forgettable.
