Casual paranoia ("phone's tapped anyway..."), drugs, wage slavery, xenophobia, mass voicelessness, instability of self, the destabilization of American heteronormativity, corruption within the family unit, Christ kitsch, the blues, the scariest false start in popular music, and the profundity of silence, for a start. Highway 61 Revisited has several of these things, but not with the same cohesiveness or sustained intensity. And I wonder what it means that "Live Minus Zero" and "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" start off with the same chords.

Fuck the opinions of those who think the Beatles changed the world - Dylan was the original cultural earthshifter in the 60s. This work, I think, shows him at his most creative and, incidentally, angriest. I adore every track on here - you're either getting a huge hearty slice of unboxed political poetry or a full aural immersion of good old blues, country, and rock and roll. I'm so glad Dylan went electric for the first time here, HOWEVER, that is in no way understating the glorious rough-roots harmonica jams he provides! My little brother once asked me what my favorite poem was and I started quoting "Subterranean Homesick Blues", haha! Goes to show how some talent never outgrows its audience!

There's nothing, nothing, NOT A FUCKING THING better to listen to on vinyl than this album. Not even ten seconds into
"Subterranean Homesick Blues," and however much you paid for your record player, and however long you spent looking for an
original pressing of this album, and however many times you had to bid on it on E-Bay without being sniped in the last 10
seconds...they ALL become worth it.

An amazing album, the combination of acoustic folk numbers and electric blues numbers really gives you one of the most varied experiences in Bob's catalogue. Favourite songs are Subterranean Homesick Blues, Maggie's Farm, and Mr. Tambourine Man.
