For the first time in Taylor's career, she truly sounds stuck. Midnights is a cross between the everything-and-the-kitchen sink approaches of both Reputation and Lover, with little of their charm. The melodies aren't as sticky and the lyrics aren't nearly as convincing as we are used to coming from Ms. Swift. While its not without its charms -Sweet Nothing is an incredibly cozy track- Midnights is the first outright misfire in her otherwise legendary career.

I really liked this album. It is a masterpiece and has no skips. The references to her previous albums are great. After the masterpieces Folklore and Evemore this is another masterpiece. I enjoyed this album a lot.

Most of this album sounds like standard chillpop that would be best served for late-night study sessions. Maybe that was the intent, but with this and Carly Rae Jepson's 'The Loneliest Time' dropping at the same time, the latter is a MUCH stronger album.

Well, it?s finally that time to review another new Taylor Swift album and to be Frank the album is above average in many aspects but a huge step backward in most areas that she brought to in her last two albums. After re-listening to ?folklore? and ?evermore? there was a reminder of what made the former so spectacular and the latter a strong folk album and it?s simply that it felt the most personal and expansive Taylor has ever sounded. The folk instrumentals highlight her singing and complement the very poetic and detailed her lyricisms can be. However, on this new album, the very minimal alt-pop production and style really does not fit her vocal style. Most of these tracks all blend together with these pretty annoying trap high hats and random indietronica synthesizers blazing in for a few seconds and leaving. Plus the same drone is backing all these tracks which is fine in places but it sometimes tries to make itself known by becoming louder. Still there are highlights on here like I personally enjoy the opening track, I enjoy the change-up in ?Vigilante shit? (even though the lyrics are extremely gauche) and even the more potent synthesizers on ?Midnight Rain? are more realized than on other tracks. It just seemed like Taylor took a huge step forward on the last two records I?m confused about why she sonically went back to this pop sound that does not inherently work for her anymore.

on the upside Swift has finally learned how to edit for time, with Midnights running over 15 minutes shorter than the previous album. On the downside, that 15 minutes seems to have accidentally been all the bangers, since the rest of the album has virtually none. Midnights is an aurally pleasant yet ultimately uninteresting exercise in alt-pop--sans the abysmal "Vigilante Shit", easily the worst Swift song I've personally ever sat through.

It's good, but nothing stands out. The production from Jack Antonoff is solid throughout,
but all sounds similar. There isn't any song that I remember as I HAVE to go back to it. Not
sure what the singles are going to be for this. The 3AM edition has like 6 more songs that
sound similar too. It's all a blur.

Repetitive, bland and plays into her worst tropes. The subtle synthy instrumentals do her no favors when her style generally favors more bombastic pop. While her lyricism has never been her strongest selling point, there was a certain charm to her. That charm is nearly gone here and feels calculated. Only recommended tracks are ?you?re on your own kid? and ?sweet nothing? and even those feel like I?m reaching to find something redeeming. Vigilante shit is good for a laugh if you can believe that she is in on the joke with us ? and scary if she isn?t.

I loved this one, I felt that her previous work like Folklore and Evermore were amazing but way too long but extremely good lyrically.rThis album is more enjoyable overall and with no skips, I loved the refferences to her previous albums. I really enjoyed it.

I really liked the album, loved the production; and yeah I may agree with that some of the lyrics may be childish or odd but it gives those sprinkles of magic to the album. I also really liked the refferences to her previous works, the getaway car bridge "took the money", the "red lipstick" with maroon and others. By so far it's one of her best works.
