This album is massive. What a fucking 30 minute experience of intense, jagged, unpredictable,
experimental, genre-bending rock music that honestly had me guessing for the entire first
listen. The elements of glitch electronica/idm, post-rock, grindcore, mathcore, and
industrial all culminate in a sound that echoes the likes of Dillinger Escape Plan, Deftones,
Alice in Chains and Glassjaw.

Sounds a little too close to TDEP. Sure they have Billy Rymer as their drummer, but they don't have to Greta Van Fleeted The Dillinger Escape Plan. Otherwise, it was a great album. Hope they forge their own sound in the future.

Is Altered Pasts a TDEP throwback? Sure, but that's what makes it cool. Truth is, Thoughtcrimes also have a Deftones-like vibe on the calm tracks, while the more violent ones bring an almost grindy attitude - all complemented by nice lil additions, like strings or "oooooh"s that always work on me.

One of the best 'core albums of the year. I could tell from the singles that this was going to be good, but I was blown away by just HOW good this is. The drumming is one of the real highlights. Also, the album never overstays its welcome and just really has impressive variety and a marriage of different sounds. Well done thoughtcrimes.
