Birds in Row cover absolutely zero new ground, delve into no new territory, engage in styles way too familiar to them, are none too adamant to venture outside of their comofrt zones, and yet manage to delvier an absoltuely blistering album where they display all that they have amassed in skill and prowess over their years on the scene.

First listen and this is def a 4.5 - could be a 5. I agree with the comment that the pacing/flow rof this album is such a progression over their past releases. The run between Grisaille, Trompe rL'oeil, Rodin, and Winter, Yet is absolutely insane. Particularly love how Burt is singing on this rone - his vocals on Rodin are incredible. Haven't heard him like that but for glimpses on some of rthe older stuff. Absolutely love this - there's so much intricate stuff going on here I can't wait rto dive in. Vinyl is on the way from Spain already!rUpdate: listening to this on vinyl right now and it sounds incredible. This album is so good.

This album more than any one of theirs has direction. The songs flow into each other so
well. I love the mixing as well, the bass is panned to the left and the guitar to the right,
drums in center. Feels like listening to a three-piece band play together live. this is
awesome!

Perhaps I have no reason not to give it a 5. Time will only tell, judging from how often I'll return to it. But as a whole, it's a beautiful, violent evolution of Birds in Row's sound, just as impactful and mature as their previous effort, if not more, and has close to zero filler. The second half perhaps is a bit more subdued, but still manages to engage me emotionally.rFav tracks: Noah, Daltonians

One o' those "hysterical screeching over colorless dissonant racket" bands. The softer spots at least have some interesting rhythms that perk my ears up, but the rest just isn't for me at all.

Fantastic release, feels like a gospel and modern life is war lovechild, and I?m really happy to have found them! Could?ve been a 4.5 again, but something stopped me near the end of the album, cannot explain what.

Raw and explosive throwback post-hardcore that shares more in common with the early emo-core bands of the 90s and their use of post-hardcore than what one thinks of today. I still find the album to get pretty stale after the 25-minute mark hits with how exhausting this can get but there are pretty solid cool-downs thrown in here and there to help keep the mind at ease.

Birds in Row prove with Gris Klein that they're one of the most distinctively original post-hardcore/screamo bands out there - and it's been like that for a whole decade. What's noticeably shining is the dynamic guitar play enhanced by super prominent effects - that reverb is *mwah*, mega props to CoL's Magnus Lindberg for the mixing. The track flow is likewise absolutely fire; the album truly feels like its own flowing entity rather than a collection of songs. On top of that, it's typical Birds in Row: passionate vocals, purring bass, and octopus-like drumming.
