There's something a bit special about Birmingham-based indie-rock trio Johnny Foreigner that threads itself subtly through these frantic, shouted pop songs. Grace And The Bigger Picture is one of 2009's most impressive records, blending JoFo's now-trademark noise-pop and intricate, chaotic guitar lines with a wider spectrum of musical endeavours. Berrow, as always, sounds passionate and full of conviction; Southern, likewise, but more fragile. These are tunes about life on the road and visiting a new city every day that contain enough hooks and energy to define your autumn.
