Guitar music indeed, but somehow lost the identity their debut EP had, somewhat withering on the song-writing front and leaning into progressions that have way less of a pay-off than what the band think it does.

With the most electronic elements out of the Windmill scene, Courting wanna make sure they aren't interchangeable with the other bands - and they succeed, bravo! In its most enthralling moments ("Loaded", "Famous", "Jumper"), Guitar Music invokes as much pop catchiness as post-everything shenanigans. Its most decidedly obscure ones show the band still needs to balance their poppy sensibilities with their post-everything shenanigans.

In the current landscape of post-Brexit post-punk there is a slim margin for this more classic post-punk sound, but somehow Courting come through with an explosive, energetic, and glitchy take on the post-punk sound. It?s weird to see indietronica rarely get fused with post-punk let alone glitch pop/rock so the band really has a step up there. I still think this album falls flat several times and they do kind of fit into that classic post-punk formula that is pretty dry up to this point, but overall, a great debut that I hope to see flushed out into the future.

All killer, no filler - the Liverpool Lads have released an impressive debut album hot on the heels of an impressive debut ep, and show a stark amount of evolution already. The production choices are phenomenal, and give the album its own personality on top of the already excellent songwriting. Tennis is perhaps the pop song of the year, and the album version's pre-chorus barrage leading straight into Loaded is a fucking orgasmic choice.

It is LOUD. But on Uncanny Valley Forever, band shows that they have talent required to become something bigger
