I loved and bought this when i was a little younger and musically unstable...but looking back (and listening) this is really nothing more than average. That probably isn't a surprise to anyone on this site, but I'm surprised by it's overall rating of 3.5. I can safely walk away with 2-3 tracks from this disc (Get Inside, Bother, Take a Number)? but it's "consistency" gets the better of it, creating a redundant, over-marketed sound. This was an alright listen, but seemed to tear down what Slipknot was doing at the time, which was actually considerably better.

Considering how much I really liked Bother, I was mildly disappointed w/ the lyricism of this album. Hell, their final song, Omega, was just some passages read to the listener, and even the pseudo-philosophical dictations were even more elaborate than the majority of all the songs of this album. Aside from Bother and Blue Study, this band has potential but it wasn't well catalyzed. Hopefully their other albums are better...

OK this album was Great. Some of it was very aggresive such as get inside. Some of it was extremely soft such as The brilliant song Bother. and some was sort of inbetween with songs like Inhale. This was not very repetitive in my opinion. Bother brings in not only great lyrics but shows how corey taylor isnt just someone who can only scream. The accoustics to the song added to that feeling of saddness and emotion, though no drums it was great. Inhale had very STrong vocals and strong guitar Riffs. The fact is Inhale also had some strong emotion even in his Screams. The llyrics were very well written as well not only in inhale but in all the songs. Get inside comes up with a quick paced high pitch singing that was extremly good. Add in the great guitar riffs and great screams done on the main lines it is a song worth listening to.Tumult was great as well with a twist on the vocal side. Using a voice changer it seems through the song may take away from his credit but it seems amazing even still. And then you get to the very end The Omega track. Not really a song but more of a poem. That really puts a twist for you at the end and on this album i garuntee that you will make it through to the end. this album is a testament to The Two slipknot members and The two members not from slipknot. This album was done well. Stone sour is a promising band.

The first question you might be asking yourself when looking at this page is "Those guys who wrote the radio hits 'Bother' and 'Through Glass' are a metal band?". Well, yes they are and their self-titled album was the first step to their success after being separated for about a decade because of SlipKnoT. Corey Taylor's the vocalist and he actually shows some good vocal talent compared to the more famous SlipKnoT. As for the music, the metal on this album never goes wrong. Did you ever think that song "Bother" just plain sucked and should go to hell with all of those annoying songs from Nickelback? Then maybe you'd like the rap metal songs "Get Inside" and "Idle Hands", or the grungy tunes "Orchids" and "Cold Reader", or the just plain heavy tracks "Blotter" and "Tumult". Even though the band's follow-up Come What(ever) May is a more mainstream approach, this is a well made first album and only lacks in the lyrical department on some tracks. The best lyrics though are in "Inhale", "Bother", and the spoken word poem/ending piece "Omega".
