Most of us probably figured that Shinoda would release a side project, but I doubt many thought it would be this good. A bit like Kanye West, he lacks more than a little in the rapping department, but his skills as a producer easily overshadow this (with the obvious difference that Shinoda plays most of the instruments). There are definitely some duds ("In Stereo", "Slip Out the Back") but The Rising Tied succeeds due to its multiple guests, strong production and excellent singles. Now if he can quit Linkin Park...

I wasn't ever looking forward to this, but I was amazed by what I heard. The mediocre rapping on the LP albums, thats changed, on this CD he's actually a really compitant MC and can rhyme with the skill of the guests, some times even better than them. So far the best thing to come out of the sphere of Linkin Park, and from one of the so called untalented members (Every member but Mr. Hahn.) What an impressive, solid effort.

Mike Shinoda's true forte lies in hip hop, as The Rising Tied shows without facing a multitude of roadblocks. Even when he's in Linkin Park, I would honestly say that between Chester Bennington and Mike, the latter is the overall superior vocalist. Under the Fort Minor moniker, he is by no means a pushover, and manages to generate a very likable, tactful record with a serious amount of staying power. The Rising Tied's 51-minute runtime is almost warranted, but not completely so because there are some songs here that aren't as electrifying as other tracks ("Feel Like Home," "In Stereo" and "The Battle" are filler ditties). Still and all, I'd certainly suggest you guys give this release a chance, for there really is a lot to admire about the offering. Angel recommends: "Right Now," "Where'd You Go," "Back Home," "Cigarettes," "Kenji," and "Red to Black".

Once again Mike shinoda pulls out awesome lyrics and powerful rap. Not the typical rap with no substance but this music has conscience.
The best tracks are: Remember the Name, Right Now (my fave), Petrified, Where'd you go, Feel Like home, Kenji, High road, and get me gone.
However some of the other songs do fall flat and don't stand out as much, which is somewhat dissapointing. Good album nevertheless.

One of the best hip-hop albums of all time !!!
It's just like Jay-Z says in the intro: "that's underground hip hop the richness of the music and everything I know is gonna be somet'n serious "
it also sounds good LIVE (not a thing you can say about many rap artists except The (legendary) Roots), kick ass bass lines (just give Red to Black a listen) and lyrics on Remember The Name or Right Now are unstoppable !!!

Fort minor brings out Mikes talents out even further. Showing his ability not only to rap but to write lyrics and songs. accompanied by syles of beyond. This album was not the best ive ever heard mind you. The meanings to songs are great, such as Right now. The entire album proves Mike shinodas talent as a Hip hop/rap artist. This is my style of hip hop/ rap however you look at it.
