This album is bloody amazing summer hardcore-funk-pop-groove album. It's the heights of
musicianship from Dance Gavin Dance. It's a rollercoaster experience in the carefree summer day
with 3 tropical cocktails and your best friends.

I have the distinct pleasure of charting the Tilin-ography for Clone Hero. Having spent ~4 hours on each song to create these charts, I've noticed some very clear trends as I've moved from Acceptance Speech to Jackpot Juicer. Over time we've seen a simplification of song structures, increase in vocal layering/production (for the worse), little to no tempo or time sig changes, and an absolute decrease in meaningful lyricism. Mothership was the perfect marriage of these trends and what made DGD "good", and we've been going downhill ever since.rI still enjoyed this album, but I'm hoping all the controversy/strife (Matt's rehab, Tilian being Tilian, and Tim RIP) brings about a reinvention of the band.

5-6 filler tracks on here that didn't need to be, but there's also some of the best tracks they've written since IG. Stoked that the Tillian era is hopefully over. Feels Bad Man might be one of my favorite DGD songs.

Another serving of brilliance from one of the genre's most important acts. The addition of Andrew Wells was a masterstroke. His voice meshes well with the group, especially w/ Tilian. It's too bad we'll never see that synergy (ha) further fleshed out in the future. Definitely a sense of finality prevading over this record w/ Tim's passing and Tilian's fuckup. More curious than ever to see where DGD goes from here.

Didn't hit Mothership heights but to have 18 songs without a single bad second on it? Awesome stuff. So much groove, so much catchiness, so much technical ability, and it all sounds sooo good. With so much going on the clarity is top-notch.

This is immediately better than Afterburner, which is nice. I'm seeing a lot of people compare to IG/MS-era of the band, and while I don't disagree, I'm not feeling the heart in this record like I could feel in those records. Tentative 3.3/5, will definitely need more listens.
