Album's more like BOSS than their much more superior early records; which is sort of like saying this is more Sonic Youth than No Wave. Except Sonic Youth > No Wave, but whatever; point is, Magik Markers continue to fall down the rabbit hole, exploring newer and, most notably, softer sounds. However, this is with much less success than when they just rocked out to minimalistic, distorted rhythms. Like if Daydream Nation totally bombed.
