I’d say that this album is a mix of everything we’ve ever done. For every song that’s more melodic or rock-driven there’s a total shitkicker, and I think that’s what makes us a well-rounded band. 4 Bumps \| Bump

More even in terms of quality than Suicide Notes and
The Curse, having better vocals and production than
both, while at the same time moving away from the
cliched and contrived sounds of Lead Sails Paper
Anchor, resulting in a decent album. It's about
50/50 on boring/good songs. Only for people who
already know that they can get some enjoyment out of
this band however. It's allright but that's about
it.

Very good album, the only downfall was the last song, and that it wasn't as hard as I hope it to be but still good. 3 songs The Curse, 4 Death-grip, 2 songs lspa, and the rest explore other forms of vocals which weren't to bad. Though the song Black Days Begin reminds me too much of the song Burn it to the ground by Nickelback, and Wait for you.... a love song??? 1 Bumps \| Bump

Considered the band's return to form, Congregation of the Damned attempted to right most of its antecedent's wrongs by further augmenting Atreyu's metalcore roots whilst still holding onto the mainstream appeal that the previous album swung around. The group unmistakably had intentions for both releases, yet didn't properly take anything into account; this may be slightly better than Lead Sails Paper Anchor, though it's not the definitive Atreyu album some were honestly hoping for. A Death-Grip on Yesterday was the closest these guys got to actually being entirely tolerable musicians, and that's all she wrote.

so i appreciate atreyu having the courage to a follow up to their previous album. however, anyone looking for the chemistry involving strictly screamed verses and sung choruses will be disappointed as the two mesh together relentlessly. instead, the listener is treated to a number of songs that are all worthy of ending up on the radio (mute a couple swearwords here and there of course). but after listening to any two songs, you can hear how much the instrumentation has been stepped up, particularly the guitars; every song has at least one solo or some type of lead but each one of them has that cliche approach. that is, it starts of with pull-offs and hammer-ons and ends with a big bend. even the bass actually has a couple solo sections in songs during the verses. but be warned, any serious musician will find these new "skills" passable. another issue with this album's sound is the production; it's nice that bass is audible, but the guitars and drums sound like they were recorded with a laptop microphone. the lead tone is particular sharp and would in my mind, have no trouble cutting off a listener's head.
