I don't remember who pointed this out recently, but the issue with Arcade Fire trying to "reclaim" themselves is that the particular niche they occupied has become home to artists they themselves inspired who are frankly doing it better now. rIt's also kind of weird that it's a very similar sonic palette to their last decade of work, just more earnest? rBox Office Luddite Rock.

1.8 rating, this album sounds hollow. If it was a different band maybe it would be a passable record. I wont trust Arcade Fire ever again after the garbage Reflektor and Everything Now, this album just further proves that.

WE is Arcade Fire's "visit card" record, featuring their indie rock early days, synth-led four-on-the-floor recent endeavours, as well as stadium-ready anthems and cute jangly pop. Cool, thanks. It's alright - as in it's not terrible, but you've heard this band do the same thing before, better. Good for them im a non-lyric mf tho.

Another half-hearted Arcade Fire record. If 'Reflektor', for all its faults, in the end was an uberambitious project with several missteps, the two following albums are not even close to thought-out. This shows no ambition and no interest in pushing their sound. They're on autopilot, okay at best, okay at worst, okay all around.

I'm just sitting here asking myself what this even is? Like this doesn't even feel like an
actual album, just some vague misguided musings vomited out by Win and co. with little
thought to musical coherence or cohesive direction. It's better than the musical toilet
slurry that was "Everything Now" so I guess it has that going for it if nothing else.
