Can't help but feel slightly let down after loving the first two but I keep coming back
to it (albeit skipping a few songs - 'Tidal Wave' is still an absolute miss
for me, I get what it's going for but...nah, and "The Way it Shatters' has such a
clumsy/cluttered intro and barely recovers from it - bit of a rocky start to the LP).
Still, there's some really solid tunes here with lots of replayability, harkening back to the
days of old (aka 2018): 'Dive Deep' is a slow-burning banger, 'Blue Eye Lake' really grew on me
and the closer is so undeniably catchy, love that one. 'Open Up Your Window' might seem at first
like little more than an interlude track but damn if I can't stop listening to that one too. 'My
Echo' is also catchy af, if a bit on the generic side. These guys can make some absolute
earworms.
So, a bit of a step down maybe but I just know these songs will get lots of play from me this
summer, because these are summer tunes. And who knows I may even come around to the other ones.
Also they rule live.
