forums but the score is for the music.
Second: Like Lvxfra said I hope you all don't
buy to big companies or give most death metal
albums good scores. You collaborate with way
worse things than a band with fash interviews
from 20 years ago or a degenerate obsessed
with Lolita themed porn, yet you choose to be
very conscious and vocal about this
because you've been brainwashed to believe you
live in a free, nice and caring system so you
have to virtue signaling your compromise with
its mantenance. Soon you'll realize
how stupid you are...
Third: That being said this could be their
weakest album in a long time. Need to give it
more spins

The members of this band have diametrically opposing views on politics, amongst other things. The inference that Mikka ris a paedophile because of his noise project (which I don?t care for at all) is as tenuous as insinuating any paint by the rnumbers death metal band are serial killers. There is a big difference between narration and the support of an idea or rsubject.

This was genuinely a struggle to get through. Forgetting the people behind this, the compositional quality is way rbelow their previous efforts. The first track, for example, is nowhere near engaging enough to justify 12 minutes rand tapers off with a completely flat outro. Much of this album is just mid paced, average black metal arpeggio rriffing that lacks dynamics and goes nowhere. The ?solos? are also pretty awful and ill conceived.

After my first listen I thought it was a snoozefest. Now I have listened to it over ten times and I absolutely love it! Can't and
will not stop listening to it. Giving it a 5 even if it may not deserve it to counter the review bombing caused by all these
ignorant people judging the music by a contributor who is not even a real member of the band.

The over-egged, edgy vocals and ambient sections (distorted choirs? really?) feel like self-
parody, and I'm not even saying that because Mikko is a racist nonce... Rhythm section absolutely
carries this, there's some delectable bass grooves, and the production knows it, as they are front
and centre, with the guitar taking a more scene-setting role at times - this, I like, especially
as the guitar work is unimpressive. It's a weak album overall, so thankfully I don't have to self-
flagellate when I make my year-end list.

I expected to be tossed into the void but what i mostly got was just memories of the void evisceration. not sure how I
feel about this but it’s definitely different and I feel lukewarm on these changes being expanded onto an
entire album. what even are these lead guitar solos? most of these tracks don’t warrant the length either. it’s not
awful per se but its not great either.. I guess I’m just mostly underwhelmed by DsO given their discography hmm

Very by the numbers when compared to pretty much any other DSO release. The main frustration ris the vocals are the main issue here. They're mostly overdramatic and lean towards a r"disturbed style" at points which sounds awful. Instrumentals mostly kill as always.

Focusing solely on music: new vocalist doesn't sound as good/doesn't fit as well, the riffs ain't dynamic enough - thank god the drums and bass are delivering the good -, and the more upbeat approach doesn't manage to trade dissonance for catchiness successfully. Basically The Long Defeat leaves you wanting more. Nothing truly bad, but my least fav DsO release in, uh *checks the db*, twenty fucking years?
