With each album, Alexisonfire took a step forward, evolving their sound and growing what the band could be. The 3 songs they put out around 2019/2020 (Familiar Drugs, Complicit, and Season of the Flood) felt like the natural next step. If those would have been the style and sound the band adopted for an entire album I would have been entirely happy.rInstead, after 13 years away, Alexisonfire has returned with one of the most daring comebacks I've ever witnessed. They torn down everything the bad "could be" and started over! It's like they took a few steps back, pulling from their old work, without ever feeling like they are repeating ideas. Then they also took 20 steps forward, creating a bold and mature album that feels like a band breaking free and becoming everything they were meant to be!rThis album in an absolute trip! No two songs are alike. It took a while to get used to the full, echoey, "live" production style. But I had already gotten accustomed to it by cycling the singles ahead of the release. So I was fully into this new approach. I thought there were a few weak songs on the first listen. After the 2nd and 3rd (because this album practically *insists* on a relisten) it all really started to click! There is something to love about every song.rOtherness absolute cements Alexisonfire's legacy, not just as inimitable post-hardcore stars, but as absolute legends!

Might bump to a 4.5 after letting it sink in some more. Survivor's Guilt & Dark night of the Soul are easily two of the best AOF songs ever.

There's no doubt these guys can still write bangers together, but it's not exactly what I
was hoping for after a few listens. The punk/core influence seems to have been traded in for
a grungy/psychedelic tint to their sound. Reverse the Curse being probably the only
recognizable AOF song on here if you were to remove the vocals. But also Sans Soleil is a
certified skipper for me and everyone else seems to be jizzing all over it so clearly AOF
fans dont care much what direction they take musically. At this point i'm just happy it's
better than OC/YC.

Nothing here is bad. Everything is pretty great. Not the groundbreaking genre defining stuff they did in the past, but it's a good band making good songs.rWeird to see them starting to sound like Trophy Scars though.

The production is a bit muddy at times but overall this is a fresh and varied album and a more than welcome comeback from a band I thought was very underrated in my high school years when they were still active. Kudos.

Now that's an extremely solid comeback, packed with everything that made the band so popular - heavy riffs counterpointed by more melodic linings, and the vocal trio that each uses their voice to their max potential. It ain't the same Alexisonfire, but in terms of energetic output that's catchy enough to find a comfy place in yo head, the Canadians still are the same good ol' Alexisonfire.

Right now is a 4, but might bump it to a 4.5 after we see how it stands after the initial hype.rI actually dig the production a lot. Sometimes vocals could be mixed a little louder, but overall rI like what they've done here production-wise.

If your looking for older AOF this album is not it.
If your looking for a band that's continued to grow
their sound. Look no farther. It has that old school
feel but it's more grown up. And some people believe
a band can only put out the same album constantly.
Feels like a continuation of Young Cardinals. The
screaming is still there it's heavy as shit!
Definitely has a grungy stoner rock feel too. I'll
be seeing them live in Baltimore soon!! Probably
going to write a review soon if noone else does.
Just want to spin it a few more times and learn the
songs a bit more.
P.s the ones complaining about the sound. Idk.
Sounds great on my sound system in the house. Maybe
some need to use more than a cell phone to listen to
music.
