Exodus' most praised album, ''Bonded by Blood'', is surely a classic. But I'm going to go ahead and get something off my chest, its not my favorite Exodus album. It has its flaws. The quality is the most obvious one. People will say that it doesn't make a difference if the quality is horrible or if the quality is great! This is, in a way, true, but it is a flaw none the less. The line up, on the other hand, is flawless for this particular record! Rob Mckillop does a fine job of laying down the basslines with a burning desire to perfect the song while doing so. Tom Hunting, my 2nd favorite drummer, does outstanding as always! Though the drum beats are more clearly heard in the album's re-recording, ''Let There Be Blood'', he still kicks you in the face with his unmistakeable style, which consists of Thrash's most impressive drum fills! Rick Hunolt incorporates a very bluesy and jazzy feel into his solos, which in return, gives them a very unique vibe for Thrash solos. He accompanies them with heavy use of the whammy bar as well as classic metal shredding parts. Paul Ballof has his sole appearance on this album, and he makes the most of it. His vocals aren't the easiest to love, but give it a couples listens and you'll begin to appreciate his high screams, low growls, and constant pitch changes. He couldn't have done a better job for this album! And the backbone of the band is Gary Holt! One of Metal's greatest guitarists. He writes the majority of the songs and really knows how to do so! His solos, unlike Hunolt's, are less blues/jazz based, and more shred based! He also incorporates heavy tremolo into the solos, even more than Hunolt for a matter of fact! The two soloing together is nothing less than magnificent! An amazing album that never gets old!!

Overrated. Only a handful is worth the listen. Groundbreaking album? YES, because this release helped define the thrash genre. Good album? NO...musically,most of the songs are average...it's all hype

One of the most insane and best Bay Area thrash albums ever. Exodus certainly isn't as accessible
as say Metallica or even Megadeth, but this album is one brilliant blueprint of pure thrash metal.
Save for a few moments and the production, Bonded by Blood is all killer, no filler and
thus a definite must-have for anyone who isn't afraid to thrash.

These guys were thrash metal pioneers and Bonded by Blood is among the most influential and essential TM records ever made. Exodus, A Lesson in Violence, Metal Command, Strike of the Beast and specially Bonded By Blood and Piranha are TM anthems. What I dislike the most is the sound production and Paul's vocals...yes Paul (RIP) is a metal legend but in my opinion never had a golden voice. This record should be released 2 years earlier.

Mostly a young and angry band of dudes playing early thrash. Tracks like Deliver us to Evil and No Love are examples of the more musically mature Exodus we would come to see, but otherwise the album is weak imo.

The crowning jewel of tritonus-based thrash metal and maybe on of the best metal albums ever made with a legion of subsequent bands trying to replicate, clone or rip-off material from it, few of them managing to actually improve or even be on par with the overall songwriting quality of this record. Exodus, unlike Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and many other thrash bands had their act together and knew what they were doing right from the get-go. They are among a select few who released a terrific debut. But unlike Metallica for example, they went on a downward spiral. Their subsequent albums never managed into reach the quality of the debut and this was due to the band hiring Souza and shying away from the tritonus playing style. With the exception of track 2, which is slightly sub-par compared to the other songs, this album encapsulates thrash perfection. Don't get the remastered version. It is shit.

Exodus have an impressive catalog to boot compared to their brethren, but Bonded By Blood is where their bloody reign began. Opening title track lays down magnificent riffs and memorable lyrics delivered in a harsh manner (courtesy of the banshee screamer Paul Baloff), and its hook will reel you right in. The album gets even better from there with the following "Exodus" featuring a more sophisticated song structure and savage lyrics about violence and murder for fucksake, "And Then There Were None" is an album highlight that builds up appropriately with its apocalyptic themes and tone, and "A Lesson in Violence" set their blueprint for fast, violent riff fests that is brilliantly quotable and accessible. "Metal Command" is a fun ode to NWOBHM, "Piranha" is a technical, frantic display of vicious riffs and tempo changes and the best song about killer fish ever recorded, "No Love" is atmospheric and sinister with a badass solo section, "Deliver us To Evil" is the seven minute magnum opus crammed with tempo changes and a devilish vibe, and "Strike of The Beast" is an epic closer and the album's most chaotic tune. The gritty production values, street themes and 'feel,' and manic vocal performance display the dark side of Exodus that has never been duplicated by the group since. Uplifted by top-tier guitarwork, excellent songwriting, and chaotic performances, Bonded By Blood is the band's crowning achievement, the best thrash metal debut album, and one of the most influential, definitive metal albums of all time.

The best Exodus album. Every song is chock full of awesome, memorable, and mega heavy riffs. Tends to be mid-paced, but the speedy sections are just as awesome. The tetralogy of Piranha through Strike of the Beast deserves special recognition.

Not quite the masterpiece some would have you believe but a more than listenable thrash album, the title track, Exodus and Pirahna are deifinitely the highlights of the album. Some great riffs and the soloing is second to none but aside from that its just a slightly above average release
