There are some nice moments in Editors' third release, but surely are not convincing. It is the wrong album to start listening to this band, as it is heavily influenced by electronic & synth sounds, something that was done in a much lesser degree in their previous albums. Recommendations: "Bricks and Mortar", "Papillon", "You Don't Know Love"

It's not the blatant rip off of New Order's sound that bothers me. I mean that's no big deal really, it happens all the time. What really gets me is how overly dramatic this thing is! I mean there are a few very very good songs in this mess, they do deserve credit for that, but.. god! It's like they were trying way too hard to be sweeping and epic... and that's Muse's job. I mean that rolling r in Papillon? In a chorus that's already plenty over the top, and repeated with the SAME INTENSITY each time, is shit like that really necessary? Come on...

Come on guys, this is not half as bad as you claim it to be. Obviously, this sounds like a Depeche Mode ripoff occasionally, subtlety is not the bands' main strength and the second half is definitely weaker than the start, but at least the refrains of the first six songs are highly memorable. Quite solid 3 stars, maybe even 3.3 > 3.
