| 2.0 poor | masterofreality | March 11th 22 | I?m actually shocked by this release. I have been a big fan for about 7 years now and I knew Ghost was gradually moving away from the macabre mystique of ?Opus Eponymous?, but you can still find the heart of soul of the original recordings on the acclaimed ?Meliora? and even ?Prequelle?. This on the other hand, barely sounds like it comes from the same band, and that isn?t a good thing. From being a 70?s rock mixed with occult elements band to a cheesy arena rock spectacle. There are a couple good songs, but some are downright embarrassing. I hope this is just a misstep for this band because this direction is sad for an old fan of the band. I can understand and appreciate musical evolution, but I do not have to like it, and in this case, I think this just sucks.

| 3.5 great | MRDi | March 12th 22 | Surprisingly good. I mean I wasn't pleased by singles. Call me... and Hunter's Moon didn't get me, Kaisarion from live performance as well. But actually the full album is much better than I expected. Far better than Prequelle, but I am really missing the Infestissumam and Meliora vibe. To be honest I wanted to hear some more stuff like FANTASTIC Seven Inches of Satanic Panic EP, but still I am kinga pleased. Well done, Ghost.

| 2.5 average | Brabiz | March 11th 22 | For every Kaisarion, there’s a Twenties. Easily the worst song I’ve heard all year, DREADFUL chorus on that
song. Overall it feels like there’s no love put into this.

| 4.5 superb | TheNoodle | March 12th 22 | This is now my favourite Ghost album. I enjoyed all the spooky mystique from their early days. But this new emo 80s hair metal vibe, with their own unique twists, made for an incredibly fun listen. Every song experiments in some small way, there are plenty of twists and cheeky moments throughout. This album is an evolution of their sound I can get behind, and I hope they continue to change and grow!

| 4.0 excellent | SpideryMan | March 14th 22 | While this album needs multiple spins to fully engross you, it will in time. Each song is
layered with impeccable detail and while not even in the same area code as the dark aura
previous albums managed to conjure, you can't help but feel that's what it's going for with
deceptively dark lyrics about overindulgence, greed, corruption of power, and capitalism
essentially. There's a certain underlying darkness to each song (except for griftwood, it's
actually quite bad) which helps with providing texture and a coherent thematic tone across the
album. It dips into thirty years ago when a band could get away with wankery, but really
incorporates that into the concept itself as a sort of motif, more than a crutch.

| 3.5 great | Gary STAFF | March 12th 22 | Let's start with a 3.5. Impera is a very two-faced album: it's either very good, or embarassing, but definitely the good side weighs more. When the '80s worship is in action (where you'll hear classic heavy metal, hard rock and pop rock) the album delivers ultra catchy melodies, and re-creates that sweet old-school vibe. But there is the bad side... other than "Call Me Little Sunshine", the singles are shit. For real, those songs are not great at all. Also there is "Darkness at the Heart of My Love" which is a shockingly cringe pop song and totally feels out of place. Not to mention, the James Bond soundtrack wannabe classical sections totally broke the flow as well. If this could have been an entirely "'80s magic worship" album by Ghost, then there'd be nothing to complain about. But when it's good, it's *very* good!

| 3.0 good | AnEpicDeath | March 11th 22 | Ghost continue their trajectory toward ever-greater camp and variety, to predictably mixed and generally "just ok" results. Still, it's fun - the album equivalent of a popcorn blockbuster. An enjoyable if not great record.

| 3.0 good | RemedyLane99 | September 9th 23 | Awesome guitar work by Fredrik kesson and some light moments of songwriting ("Respite on the Spitalfields", "Call Me Little Sunshine") and the one in aspects of texting too ("Watcher in the Sky" let me return to this album quite often. rBut some lyrics are exceptionally bad r("Grabbing them all by the hu-has" or r"Listen up, you motherfuckersrThose Ivy League dopes, they wanna mock usrTell 'em all this is warrAnd not fighting a war is for suckers (Kiss my)", both in "Twenties" andr"I'm your rock, baby, rI won't back down..." in "Griftwood") WHY THE HELL DO YOU HATE TOM PETTY THAT MUCH?rAnd the bland production spoiled "Call Me Little Sunshine" which could have become outstanding but now just is... still quite good, I guess.rSo this album brings me a lot of joy if I manage to overhear some big flaws here and there.

| 2.0 poor | RaylanCrowder | December 28th 22 | This outfit peaked creatively with Meliora and are now leaning in too far into 70s metal raesthetic with the lyricism declining in some tracks. Worst of all though is the band trying rto sound like Queen with a vocalist who can't match Freddie Mercury in range. Listen to Def rLeppard or Whitesnake instead

| 2.5 average | NYdubber | August 6th 22 | Way too polished, poppy, and contrived...
This is Kiss when they hit their disco-era. Started off all dark and gritty, then lost their way
and tried being something they weren't.
Sure, some decent songs here and there, but nothing that even remotely resembles the can't-skip-a-
track consistency of those first few albums.

| 3.0 good | Ganoncannon | April 24th 22 | My thoughts on this are basically the same as Prequelle when it released, with a few songs I really like (Kaisarion and Watcher In The Sky) and some I really don't care for (Darkness At The Heart Of My Love). Twenties is so insanely goofy too and I still don't know if love it or hate it

| 0.0 | didnt ask to be staff, was made staff anyway, then got demoted for not doing staff stuff | March 15th 22 | Ghost's most pompous and bombastic album to date (even more than 'Prequelle', believe it or not), but also one that sees Tobias Forge at a somewhat uneven grounds. His vocals, until now subpar but digestible, and song-writing, until now overly reliant on catchy hooks and melodies, start showing cracks under the weight of expectations and budget. Ghost sound tired, bored, hoping the expensive sound will bandage the wounds of tedium they find themselves in.

| 2.5 average | Mitch | March 14th 22 | Side one is impeccable, and has easily some of the bands strongest tracks to date. Side 2 however, is pretty much irredeemable and features undoubtably the worst handful of songs the band has ever recorded. "Darkness At the Heart of My Love" makes my fucking skin crawl.
