This is pretty much exactly what I want out of metallic hardcore. Shit is obscenely heavy, but has enough interesting creative elements (industrial/dark ambient flourishes and interludes) to keep it fresh throughout the course of its short runtime. Very stoked for the future of this band.

Heriot's debut EP is truly a statement of presence and versatility, both in style and song-writing. They can do a plain and simple core banger, they can bend and twist their tunes every which way possible, they can also shroud their atmosphere in haze for no apparent reason other than it being interludes. But those are way too long. At a point when your songs are already slow yet stretching for plentiful energy, interluding them with more vague mistiness so often does more disservice to the flow. Or, y'know, go for broke on the doom side.

After hearing Debbie screaming like a banshee on END's thaw i pretty much had to check this
out, and what do you know, it's bretty good. Listened to a couple of interviews afterward
and it seems like the guys in band listen to a lot of different styles of music and it kinda
evolves into this weird multigenre thing that works surprisingly well.
Since this is just a EP that was written in a week (!) i'm really excited for their upcoming
album.

Saw someone compare this to Loathe + Code Orange. I suppose that fits if you only qualify the heaviest elements of Loathe. Lots of industrial/hardcore/sludge influence. Great stuff!
