| 2.5 average | CrazyFool84 | December 26th 10 | As a young stoner, I often had long discussions with friends over the possible hybrid of a heavy metal and reggae fusion. Seeing as these were both my favourite genres at the time, the prospect of putting them both together just seemed good sense. Discussions quickly warranted the paradox of metal’s aggression and reggae’s laid-back good nature and their ability to coexist in the same realm without sounding completely ridiculous. After I’d long abandoned the dream of hearing such a sound, a buddy who had been involved in the previous discussions told me about Skindred. He cautioned that they were far from the best thing around, but if my curiosity still needed to be satisfied, I should give them a spin. I’ve looked into the band’s material for a few years now, always casually I’ll admit, and still cannot find something endearing about their music. It was disappointing to truly experience the failure that came at the culmination of metal and reggae’s, but one has to experience the atrocity for themselves. This band obviously has some sort of following, but any reggae aspects come off as more of a gimmick (mainly playing off the lead vocalist’s heritage) and underneath Skindred is little more than another nu-metal act.

| 2.5 average | Dext3r | September 28th 09 | Fortunately just an EP that let us hope it's just a one-time blooper. "Stand for something" and "Invincible" are the only tracks that remind of their former works, the leftovers are nu-metal mainstream. Nonetheless it's worth a listen; "Electric Avenue" works out quite well.
