1.0 awful | herebedragons69 | March 26th 22 | This is not psychedelia or neo-psychedelia. It has no business being outside of rap/hip-hop.
Attempts to span various music genres are attempts to broaden an artist's base...like
Beyonce or Kanye West playing at Coachella. These charlatans have no affinity for
psychedelia or alternative music. Broad genre assignments open the door to the great
unwashed unjustly reviewing genuinely talented artists like Melody's Echo Chamber, Kelly Lee
Owens, The Black Angels, etc. that deserve the notoriety they achieve in eclectic categories
like neo-psychedelia, art-pop, art-r&b, psi-jazz. @lg433 your "out of pocket" remark says
more about you. It's all yours brother.

4.5 superb | charlopiano | March 25th 22 | The production is absolutely out of this world, denzel has some incredible bars on here, if Kendrick doesn't drop, this is easily the best rap album of this year

alternativa.

4.0 excellent | MonotoneCulprit | March 25th 22 | Ask me for song recs off of this, and I'll just tell you to spin the whole thing. Truly superb top to bottom. Production is lovely. Album establishes a vibe and sticks with it throughout. Concentrated, concise album. Wouldn't be surprised if I end up bumping this to a 5. Give it a listen

4.5 superb | SpideryMan | March 29th 22 | Of course. How could I be so BLIND, hip-hop has no connections to psychedelia and every album that comes out of the genre is 100% for profit and nothing else.

3.5 great | LikeWindOnANipple | July 9th 23 | This is a tough one to rate because some of the tracks here are absolutely brilliant, but then a good few tracks feel kind of inaccessible to me mood-wise like "John Wayne" (though I do like the imagery painted by the lyrics). And then tracks like "X-Wing" have a catchy hook and solid delivery, but the materialism comes off shallow compared to the heavy tone set by the opener; I do see how these are natural elements to Curry's expression, but the contrasts aren't as connected as they could be. Overall, I feel like this album unifies well as an overall vibe and mindset, but there're still some bumps along the way that keep it from being as focused as it can be.

4.0 excellent | Bedex | November 1st 22 | Long time since I last jammed his albums, but best Curry (so far) I'd say? The latter half did dampen my enthusiasm, but I was easily looking at a 4.2 up to 7 maybe. The production is pristine, lush, varied, multilayered, and transitions between tracks smoothly (so much so that I missed the track changes multiple times for my notes), what's more to ask. I loved 1 as an intro track, 2 has an excellent swingy choppy instrumental, his rap seemed flat at first in comparison but does get much better, 3 fantastic prod again and I love the reggae vibes in some places, 4-5 are more hazy and drugged up compared to the energetic opening trio but I like them especially 5. 6 feels like Nujabes with a bit more distorted punch on the drums, and the T pain feature on 7 is fun. 8 is the first time the album is not even meh but outright unpleasant with the Aint No Way shouts. It only occurs at the start, but the track also feels like it regresses into something more basic than anything before it on the LP. 9 is pretty mid too ngl, but 10 is cool (and my last heart song on the LP). 11 is pretty meh, but very short, then 12-13 is somewhat cool with its DnB element, but this is where the album gets a bit much and feels too long - the track is just too much in your ears at this stage. Thankfully 14 is a nice conclusion track, but yea overall album is a 4.0

4.0 excellent | cjbizzlebizzle | October 19th 22 | Another stop on 2022's train of hip hop excellence. After having some time to reflect on this record, it is one that is best enjoyed from end to end. Sure 'Walkin', 'Troubles' and 'X-Wing' are great tracks on their own but for some reason this album just shines best in its entirety, and flies by in a full listen. Another thing I like about Denzel is he can be serious without coming off as some conscious, semi-pretentious rapper. As everyone mentions, the production is next level so put your best headphones on (the piano+strings in X-wing, the bass+drums in Angelz, really the instrumentals in general are just fantastic here). Fav tracks are the aforementioned as well as 'Ain't No Way' and 'Sanjuro'.

4.2 excellent | Erwann S. STAFF | March 29th 22 | Melt My Eyez, See Your Future sees Denzel at his most soulful and introspective, enhanced by the best production he ever rapped on. He found his balance on this one, proving he can rap on any kind of instrumentals. I hope this is not his definitive album, because this dude has been successfully reinventing himself for more than half a decade.

4.5 superb | ajcollins15 | March 29th 22 | Denzel Curry with his 2018 album ?TA13OO?, elevated himself into the conversation as one of the best cloud rappers to be in the SoundCloud branch off. From there we have seen Denzel branch away from the genre and go down some other paths. Like the southern hip-hop and hardcore hip hop banger of ?Zuu? in 2019. Or the wonkier and more fun dual mixtape with Kenny Beats in 2020 ?UNLOCKED?. Now we have the album Denzel promised us ever since the BLM protests started two years ago. ?Melt My Eyez See Your Future?, is another direction change and it feels a lot like when Danny Brown came out with ?uknowhatimsayin¿?. This fifth album from Denzel sees him going down the boom bap and jazz rap scene (with some trap rap bangers thrown in here and there). We also see Denzel being the most vulnerable she has ever been when he discusses his own religious beliefs, the challenges of being a black man in the US, and various other topics. Although the topics are not that cohesive, many tracks are separate from one another. The structure, flow, and sound of this album are nearly perfect. Another great album and a truly breathtaking release for Denzel and a continuation of his really great streak of albums.

3.5 great | BillyBrill | March 27th 22 | This is seriously so good - nothing utterly mind-blowing, and it loses some momentum in like the middle third, I'm not a fan of the three track run from Troubles through X-Wing, but the Smell of Death picks it up seriously for the last third. It's filled with mostly very VERY insightful lyrics about Denzel himself, and those lyrical moments are easily the strongest on the album but while his lyricism is for the most part intelligent, I got taken out of the music by some REALLY childish bars. I'm cold like the Arctic? It struck me harder than a bow and arrow? I mean - yeah man. But in focusing on the negative, I only affirm with myself the immersion and efficiency of the rest of the album. 2022 has been an incredible year for music, and its not even April.
