A super solid slab of death metal. Gigantic riffs, monstrous vocals, probably not as good as Of Rot and Ruin.

Listening to this gave me an even greater appreciation for their debut. I've listened to this a few times now and it just isn't sticking with me quite like Of Rot & Ruin. rThat's not to say this is bad, but I feel like OR&R was more engaging throughout. This gets a limp 4 for the time being.

A pretty good followup to their debut but listening back and comparing the two it becomes apparent pretty quickly that 'All That Was Promised' just lacks some of the energy the debut brought and the excellent pacing of the first record. In their debut Hath brought a ton of diversity in the riffs, tempos and song structure where here it feels a bit more by the books and the production becomes very mechanical and less organic. Still a band I would love to see live up here in Boston at some point but a step down in my eyes from Of Rot and Ruin which felt a lot more adventurous.

A nifty blend of death and black metal with a dash of prog, All That Was Promised offers multifaceted death metal that shines best when going fast and focusing on harsh vocals - clean vox and slower passages are good, but not as impacting.
