Sventevith is the best album of Behemoth's black metal career. From start to finish it rivals the best releases from the best in the genre, never once on this album do Behemoth fail to please. Minor (just barely enough) folk influences are heard here, though not to the degree that ruined Grom. Vocals are tragic and melodies are beautiful. This release is much more mature than Behemoth's earlier albums; its a shame that folk influences in the Grom era disrupted this near perfect sound; Infernos presence in Bewitching the Pomerania and after further distanced Behemoth from this style of playing. This album is the climax of Behemoths' black metal career, and it was a well crafted finale.

Severely overlooked, even if you can't really call this original, it's still some great quality cold black metal with really nice folk elements that actually fit the music.

Pretty cool record from Behemoth. Back when they were BM, they weren?t your typical BM, no, Mergal added in tons of eastern pagan influences and halved the repetitiveness of usual BM.

Behemoth's full length debut has a nice blend of black metal and folk. I didn't really love the
production on this, the performances can be a bit sloppy at times, and some of the material blends
together to an extent. However, the interludes and "Hell Dwells in Ice" offer nice changes of
pace. For someone who doesn't listen to a lot of black metal I could sense it was very genuine,
and I even found a lot to enjoy. 3.1/5
