Hey, the 90s called, and they want their shit back!! Dry beats, scraggy guitars, and hushed vocals that, at worst, sound unenthusiastic (but they usually don't, woo!), making PAINLESS a slow-burning record that never quite reaches the climaxes it hints at.

Although the sophomore album from the London-based artist is a lot more artistically sound and consistent across the board, many of the artistic direction and flair that made her debut album so potent is missing on ?PAINLESS?. There are some great indie artsy pop songs on here but there are also some derivative, if not Radiohead worship, also on the album.

In her second studio album, Nilufer?s approach is more confident in her sound that?s filled with soulful and attention grabbing alt-rock grooves and melodies. Her unique style also gives a subtle, yet ethereal atmosphere that tie in with themes of fearlessness and self improvement, which feel more substantive than her previous work. By far, it?s her best yet.
