I'm confused, did Sunn O))) start out as an Earth tribute band or a joke project? I really can't tell when I listen to this. One thing I can tell is that whether Earth tribute or joke, neither of them are done well at all. The first track isn't even that bad, until you realize there's still eleven minutes left. And then about one minute into the second track you realize that the entire album sounds like this: one, maybe two notes, droned on ad infinitum with maybe some static or some other kind of interference every five minutes or so. It's a test of patience to sit through the entire thing. I kid you not, if you can listen to this thing the entire way through without so much as opening another tab in your browser, goofing around on your phone/tablet/what-have-you, or falling asleep, I'm extremely impressed. I'm really glad they stopped doing this sort of thing and actually started writing songs, because it really did them some good.
