I really like some of the production on here, but my problem is with what comes out of Jay-Z's mouth a lot of the time. His flow and word choice are a little wack. Many times, I would hear a line and just be like, "What? Really Jay-Z?" If this is truly Jay-Z's "Blueprint" for the future of the rap game, I think we might be in trouble.

Jay-Z hit rock bottom right after we all thought he was getting his act together again. The beats usually are washed over and over in poppy over production, but its the rapping that really faults this record. His flow is stagnant, lazy, abrupt, and his writing is anything but clever. Just with "Empire State of Mind" alone, Jay-Z commits lyrical suicide after the years of work he's put in as a one of raps better lyricists ("YOU KNOW I BLEED BLUE/BUT I AINT A CRIP THO//BUT I GOT A GANG OF NIGGAS RIDIN IN MY CLIQUE THO"). Seriously the WORST record he's put out.

Decent CD. Not bad, by all means. And certainly enjoyable. Please I urge you to stay away from the song with Kanye, "Hate". It's a complete auto-tuned mess with some forgettable verses.
In fact most of the CD has forgettable verses. "On to the Next One (ft. Swizz Beats)" definitely contains Jay's best verses and flow on the album for sure. Very entertaining song. Also Mr. Hudson's cover of Forever Young was decent, his voice was spot-on though. Reminded me of young Sting. And Jay's verses in there are quite good aswell.
I take it you all have heard Run this Town and DOA already. All other songs I haven't mentioned are fairly forgettable. Also avoid the song with Young Jeezy, very corny. Same with "A Star is Born"

Wow this is surprisingly bad, less than half of this album is listenable. Kanye continues his downward trend in quality with his track, he was so good. But I'll stick to Soillaquists and Wale for now, (mainstream) Hip Hop is Dead.

One of New York’s most talented MC’s drops his eleventh album in the recent months. Shawn Carter or better know as Jay-Z releases the final installment to the blueprint trilogy, The Blueprint 3. After being in the rap game for just about fourteen years, the hip-hop giant still manages to crushes today’s competition.
With his protégé Kanye West as his lead producer on his latest record, Blueprint 3 delivers new rhythm and beats unlike the old Jay-Z records. The beats are louder and energetic, the lyrics are executed perfectly and clever. With not one track worth skipping, this is maybe one of Mr. Carter’s greatest records yet.
Most of the time I would favor albums that could hold back on featuring guest stars to as little as 2 guest stars. However, I cut Jay-Z some slack even though he has whopping eleven different artists on his album, from Kanye West and Kid Cudi to Mr. Hudson and Alicia Keys. The Blueprint 3 had its share of number one smash hit like “Run This Town,” “Empire State of Mind,” and “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune).” Even with how popular those tracks grew, I still disagree that those were the best tracks The Blueprint 3 offered.
One track in particular I think should get the attention it deserves is “Already Home.” In fact, the track holds my favorite verse, “Somebody turn these boys off, don’t they know what I’m on? Can’t they see that it’s foolish to try to kill me with songs?…You killing me softly, you talk to me to death.” The song is pointing out that it’s impossible to top him and the competition is wasting their time writing music to degrade him. The track brings me to a new perspective on Jay-Z. It thought this was another rap artist who is still making music even with his flame burned out. Fortunately, I was wrong, Even though Carters sound changed from his all-time classic Reasonable Doubt, he still delivers lyrics with true meaning unlike these new artists who are obsess with money and power other than talent and originality.
