I never quite bought into Benn Jordan (a.k.a. The Flashbulb, a.k.a. Human Action Network, a.k.a. CHR15TPUNCH3R; you get the gist)'s glitch-infected brand of IDM, probably because I never quite bought into -anyone-'s glitch-infected brand of IDM. Closer listens of Soundtrack to a Vacant Life revealed mysticism and a thing for orchestral beauty, but, at 31 tracks, it was daunting. This quick EP, released somewhat hastily via the internet, is much more accessible, for two reasons: 1. It does away with any Warp Records influences and keeps the orchestration intact, and 2. It's a lot shorter. It's the kind of album that can only be described by the aesthetic value it has for its listener. Here's mine: floating above a forest at dawn. Strange at first read, but easier to understand when you hear the album: made up of folky, woodsy guitar lines and organic, ambient interludes, the album easily combines the easily-found "cabin in the woods" aesthetic with the not-so-common "floating at night" one. Even when a ill-advised fusion intro from the fourth track attempts to drag the aesthetic down, it's easily brought up again by a simple press of 'replay'.
