This is that Riverside type of prog metal that I don't care much for. This also kind of reminds of Devin Townsend weirdly but this guys vocals are far below Devin's in every aspect imaginable. The growled vocals as well as heavy riffing portions are neat but are used too sparingly to the point they become an afterthought a lot of the time, unfortunately.

I almost stopped it after the first two songs, they were horrible. I don't mind cheesy stuff, but it wasn't really good. Not big fan of the vocals here at all, and the smoothness doesn't go well with the heaviness, even if it tries to be catharctic, it becomes flatly predictable. Only the first three Distraction songs + the second half of Distracion Nulla hit my expectations, the rest was ultra meh.

That solo near the end of Woolgatherer has some seriously nice phrasing. I wish there were more electric melodic parts on this one but I am definitely impressed with everything I have heard after just two listens

I need more folky stuff in Epigone. The whole album is great as progy gigantic journey.

More atmospheric and airy than their last two output, Epigone sees Wilderun embrace their inner Townsend and go full Disney. Compositionally, this is great but man prog has rarely sounded that safe.

Following the celebrated 'Veil of Imagination', Wilderun return with more of the similar material, which you will definitely love, provided you already loved the previous album.

Big Townsend and the Contortionist energy here. Definitely not as folky as I remember in previous releases. Still an excellent work and is littered with breathtaking moments.

Although another strong and grandiose album from the Massachusetts metal band, I think their style and sound have grown stale throughout the years. When the album is going along, it is a cacophonous blend of strings, horns, guitars, drums, and vocals that all blend for a harrowing and emotional listen. But the album leaves me fatigued by the end and wanting something a little more unique and interesting. Great listen once and a while, but overall all their other records sound the exact same so it?s tough to really warrant another album.
