i don't think i'll ever understand the massive hype this band gets but this is a totally solid fun ep. i found this to be even more one note than "you won't go before you're supposed to" and made me appreciate that album a touch more. crushingly heavy but not a whole lot of substance or intricacies to draw you in further. they know how to write a breakdown that hammers hard but they are quite predictable in where they are placed and lack memorability as there are so many of them. the band tries to mix it up with some atmospheric attempts like at the end of "forced to stay" and "permanent" but really just feel like padding and breathers after the beatdown. you throw this on, enjoy it and it mostly leaves your memory outside of a callout or two.
bryan garris's unique high pitched strained screams have really grown on me though and his unorthodox sound contrasts well with the downtuned pummeling guitar tone. a solid little experience that i won't mind revisiting from time to time when i'm feeling a tad peeved!

A good but overrated release. A style-over-substance record that basically features a bunch
of flashy, soulless fast parts interspersed throughout some of the band's least interesting
breakdowns. If they can fuse these more chaotic bits with the more memorable riffs of ADSOB
it'll be great.

One sentence: This new EP from the prolific five-man band sees a brutal take-down of deathcore and metalcore with so much energy and so much skill it?s scary to think how this could actually take over as one of the best in the genre. This EP is perfection in the simplest form, comes in, destroys you emotionally and sonically, and then leaves. What else could you want? But it?s the fine details of field recording as well that take this album over the top for me. Perfect recording, perfect execution, and perfect passing.
