Although this new album from legendary swancore artist Kurt Travis might be a bit of a novelty record, what is presented here could be interesting propulsion for swancore and math rock as a whole. RnB and math rock probably could have always been combined because of the huge funk influence in RnB, but it does come off very well for what is presented here. 30-minutes of easy listening alternative rock and RnB and it doesn?t slow down one bit. Great little album overall and hopefully Kurt with continue with this but knowing him and how many bands he starts and doesn?t keep with who knows.

Eternity Forever's eponymous EP was released and then immediately mythologized due to inter-band drama and a quick break-up. This meant Gold Necklace - a project between Brandon Ewing and Kurt Travis and the spiritual successor to Eternity Forever - had a lot to live up to before releasing a single note. Thankfully, Gold Necklace delivers; it's smooth and sultry, with guitar lines that could ace algebra but also steal your girl, and crooning that makes hearts flutter. It has the best of math rock and the best of R'n'B, which when working in tandem, prove to be a powerful combination.

Kurt Travis is an amazing vocalist. Hell, probably my favorite singer of all time. But, listening
to thirty minutes straight of just his falsetto is strenuous. Instrumentally, it's sounds like
they took mathcore and watered it down to the point where it sounds midwestern emo.

Kurt Travis cosplaying as an R&B singer and using black women as props in his music videos and album art. I bet he would wear black face if it was still the 1940's.

I love the grove in this record. I think my favorite part of this album, is it?s so easy to comeback to and not get sick of. Also Joseph?s drumming is so amazing and Brandon?s riffs are so good. Kurt definitely in my top 5 singers no doubt. One of my Favorite releases of 2021

This is a fun album. Probably Kurt’s sexiest work, in large part due to working with Brandon. Basically Eternity Forever
with a better (and more ethical) drummer. Great way to kick off kill iconic records.
