Okay, this is fucking beautiful! Where The Valley saw them adding more cleans in two or three tracks and turning upside down the Deathcore world, this just fucking shatters the mold of the genre and put Whitechapel closer to the sound of modern Progressive Rock/ Metal and Alternative Metal bands than anything. While I think that The Valley had a thicker atmosphere that just made it very unique and memorable, Kin achieve these results by being a more diverse album, by being MUCH more melodic (Phil vocals are a thing of beauty) and by wearing some Classic Rock/ Classic Metal/ Southern Rock influence on its sleeve. Really great effort by the boys, and while I think reviews for this one may become very divisive and that this is a grower, I like it a great deal on first listen. Favorites right now are History Is Silent and Without You/ Without Us.

Great album! Not only the songs are heavy but also have detail and excellent melodic elements. It feels like an expansion of The Valley. Very enjoyable and cohesive.

Whitechapel venture even further away from their deathcore roots on Kin, an album that blends their signature brutal grooves with some fantastic melodies, as well as some great solos, a fantastic vocal performance and some phenomenal drumming behalf of ex-Faceless drummer Alex Rudinger. Might be their best album yet.

A change in direction for the band, incorporating clean melodic passages and almost void of the familiar Deathcore breakdowns. Whitechapel to me has always been one of the least "Deathcore" sounding bands out of all the big names associated with the genre. Phil Bozeman is one of the finest vocalists in all of metal and he really shines on this album. Just a fantastic album all around.
