3.4 great | Erwann S. STAFF | September 6th 21 | Cool country with some good choruses and some solos switching back-and-forth from epic to dumb. Dude's delivery is a bit samey but the ample production really makes the different elements and sometimes vocalists ("Ft. Walton Wake-Up Call") shine.

4.0 excellent | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | July 31st 23 | James McMurtry out here showing the simpleton twits how it's done, country and americana have a lot of good in them, but you have to actually have talent for that.

4.5 superb | DonWoodward | August 26th 21 | I think this is JMM's best record ever, and I know all of them really well. It's a masterpiece. The band (David Grissom on guitar and Kenny Aronoff on drums) just slay. When you have that kind of firepower behind someone who is arguably the best American songwriter since Bob Dylan, the results are stunning. Every single track is a gem. I can't stop listening to this record. So damn good.

4.0 excellent | NorthernSkylark | August 21st 21 | Now this is some good ol’ country rock.
Dude even pulls off a song about missing his glasses and it’s all grand.
